SANTO DOMINGO.-The Catholic Church and the Dominican Telecommunications Institute (Indotel) signed an agreement to develop an educational radio and television project, at an initial cost of 30 million pesos, with RD$10 million disbursed to the religious institution today.

The agreement is part of the national literacy program similar to "Yes I can," which was developed in Cuba.

The Dominican educative television project, however, will entail investments estimated at RD$200 million in its different stages, and it will be supported by the governments of Cuba and Mexico.

Vargas of Indotel continues to show great leadership with a series of projects to improve the education of Dominican youth and overall quality of life in the RD. This is a very rare quality that is not in existence in the RD Gov itself and many affiliates such as corrupt DNCD, weak judicial system etc.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if this new entity were to produce a complete History of the DR from the time Columbus first arrived to present day and aired it during Prime Time for thebenefit of our children?
The events of History, portrayed by Dominican actors and actresses, accurately presented, would go a long way toward instilling in our young people the facts of the ongoing development of the DR in a manner that couldn't be duplicated through 'classroom' presentations by mediocre instructors.
Ten segments, each covering 55 years of historical facts, accurately presented without excuses would go a long way toward informing our youg people of their heritage development.
Think it might happen???
I surely hope so.
