Santo Domingo.- Owners and operators of 52 Free Trade Zone companies have launched an education process for their employees about preventing AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, instead of conducting mandatory HIV tests.

Nine companies in the Itabo-PIISA, Nigua, Las Américas, San Isidro and San Pedro de Macorís Free Trade Zones have developed procedures for tackling HIV-AIDS, with the aim of preventing their spread in the workplace.

Companies like Hanes, D. Wolverine, Warcoal, First Technology, Corning, Edwards, MFI Products, TBS Industries and Mustad have taken part, together with 43 other establishments, in the Work and Health HIV-AIDS workplace response project.
