Puerto Plata.- Fourth Way presidential candidate Eduardo Estrella has said that Dominican society is being devoured by “rampant corruption” and added that political parties are the main actors in this “regrettable situation” described in international reports.

Eduardo Estrella, a former presidential candidate for the country’s third-largest party, the PRSC, lost his bid to become their candidate in 2008 and left to form his own party, the Fourth Way. He said that the recent Transparency International report defined the corruption of the traditional parties, which is the result of irresponsible behavior by the Dominican political class.

“We have been warning about this for a long time now and this is why we have decided to take this step forward, to call for a change of direction, to give the country an alternative, a hope”, he stated while addressing an event during his tour of the northern province of Puerto Plata.

Corruption adds 40% more costs & inefficiency making the RD anti-competitive! Although there's cheap labor (i.e. Haitian workers) like Asia but the high corruption costs make it inefficient to operate thus costing the RD new jobs, businesses & investments.

The energy & cooper thefts, out-dated transportation monopoly, corrupt police & DNCD, high prices due to lack of leveraging free trade make it cheaper to make goods in China & move them 12,000 miles into the US/Canada!

The funny part is that, as all candidates that end up being Presidentes, they just do nuthing to fix it. It´s just a good excuse to say how bad the other one is doing it.
