SANTO DOMINGO.- Eight of the non-government organizations (NGO) with allotments assigned in the National Budget aren’t registered in the National Planning Office, even though they’ll receive up to RD$13.1 million, the newspaper Diario Libre says.

In that situation is the Azua, San Juan and Elías Piña Development Foundation, whose director isn’t registered; the New Oasis for Las Canas Foundation and the Foundation Jose Francisco Peña Gomez, which isn’t the Training and Technological School, headed by his widow Peggy Cabral, and which has RD$8 million assigned in the Budget.

Whereas Chamber of Deputies president Julio Cesar Valentin said a bill was introduced which will transfer the funds assigned in this year’s Budget, to more than 200 NGOs sponsored by politicians.

The poor people have nothing and we give away Money.

Each of these should pledge 25% to help the poor. And still have plenty left.

However, that woluld be the right thing to do.????

The patients are running the asylum.

How can any decent person with a modicum of intelligence, support, defend and vote for Lio-nel Fernandez and his PLD gang.

LF this is pathetic. What kind of retard are you?

There are tens of thousands of poor people and you allow this to continue.

LF, aren’t you the least bit embarrassed. Be someone the Dominican people can respect, not a shameless, immoral swine.

They are doing this because they see no effective opposition. They have bought the majority of the mass media. Any sound of opposition is faint and ineffective. We can all grouse about this but these are comments falling on deaf ears. Its a shame on the whole powerless population that a small group, in relative terms, can do so much harm to this beautiful place.

"To Josean: feel so SORRY about you and your fellow country people instead of praising positive things that are being done in the DR when they are posted in this blog your people always want to make us feel inferior."

When I see the postive things done by this criminal administration I will, until then I cannot make things up!

firstly, JRRubirosa, i guess you assume i am haitian simply because i do not join your chorus and bash haiti. i hardly make any definitive statements about haiti, because i have never been there. i do not bash the dr either: i merely state areas in which i see errors in political judgement. that is called constructive criticism. if you are satisfied with the status quo, more power to you. if it fills your heart with joy that the dr ranks no 129 out of 131 countries in that latest UN education indices, then throw a party! send congratulatory post cards to all members of government, because we rank no 3 in the world in electricity loss. and yes, the average percentage of gdp assigned to education in the caribbean is 4.05%: congratulate Leonel for assigning 1.2%, on average, during his tenure of 7.5 years. thank him for continuing a process wherein dominicans who migrate to the usa to work receive, on average, the second lowest remunerations, colombia being the bottom. if you call that

progress, we measure things by different yardsticks. i have not seen you post one index in which we have improved, yet you make dogmatic statements and deride those who dare disagree with you. but this is supposed to be a democratic forum, so speak your piece!
