SANTO DOMINGO.- A private jet which made a technical stop in Dominican Republic to refuel was detained in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, once it landed at about 8 p.m. last Sunday.

The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), which allegedly seized 68 kilos of cocaine from the Venezuela-registry aircraft on Sunday, has requested a report from its Dominican counterpart, the National Drugs Control Agency (DNCD). The DEA detained the two pilots, both men

“They (the DEA) want the DNCD to provide a report on the plane to see if there was a failure in the mechanisms of detection in Dominican Republic,” said a report in local and foreign media Thursday morning.

In 2007 most of the aircraft detained or suspected of carrying narcotics to the country were of Venezuela registry, although Caracas has reiterated its commitment to fight drug trafficking.

I wouldn't be surprised if these 2 men bribed the DNCD agents

One way to put a stop to this sort of activity is to require a COMPLETE SEARCH OF All TRANSIENT AIRCRAFT STOPPING IN THE DR by BOTH Customs and DNCD personnel.
Surely not all employees of these organizations are "on the take".
Either that, or take their offer of bribe, THEN arrest them on smuggling and drug charges.

Maybe to make CDNCD (Control de Dirección Nacional de Control de Drogas)? And after that, CCDNCD. (Control de Control de Dirección Nacional de Control de Drogas)

Or to make at the end, DNQVPTD (Dirección Nacional Que Va Parar Traspaso de Drogas) y departamento de Control de mismo departamento.

Oh please, lets stop the pointing fingers. The dominican republic is the hardest working country against drug traffiking as little as the country is tons and tons of drugs has been confiscated. we are doing our job. beside tell me how much drug enters the us and what is the official count of detention?. a country could not search an aircraft needing help or fuel, onless is its final stop. thats the international law. maybe the us should be harder on drug dealers after all all drugs trafiking is bound to the US WHY, WHY- IS THE MOST AND GREATES DRUG CONSUMING COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. if you havent it figure it out drug is a billion dollar business for the us couts and jail system and does that are attics, tend to be taking care of by methadone, and were it comes from, from the actal illigal heroin/pupy plants. I just dont like the way people blame country that has nothing to do with that if thats the case lets blame the world because drugs end up everywere.

Well, I am a US corporate pilot who used to be based out of Herrera airport. I have never seen such a lax in security at any airport as I have seen there.
