SANTO DOMINGO.- A Haitian technical delegation which came to Dominican Republic to evaluate the bird flu outbreak in the country, returned yesterday to Port-au-Prince after a stay of 48 hours.

This six member team will have to render a report to the Dominican Agriculture Ministry, so the authorities can make the pertinent decisions, said the newspaper Diario Libre quoting a source close to the commission.

The mission which visited Dominican Republic "did a good job" and "the ideas are now clearer on the manner in which the situation appears" in the border country, the source said.

Thanks God that PLD and Leonel Fernandez are in power because somebody else would care less about what people think.

Once again is pathetic and nonsense that people look for non reason excuses to attack our
goverment.

No ofense to haitians and pro haitians but We have to learn to respect each other regardless what everybody thinks.

At the end doesn't matter everybody's political agenda but everybody has to respect private space, culture, language and thinking (Regardless of what everybody says HISPANIOLA has to
remain 2 different countries).

We have different behaviors, languages, religions, and thinking.

So please PEACE and SEPARATION .............................................

We allow our ignorance to prevail upon us and make us think we can survive alone, alone in patches, alone in groups, alone in races, even alone in genders.

It is no good to try to stop knowledge from going forward. Ignorance is never better than knowledge.

Avian Influenza

0o0o0o0

"The Avian Flu claimed at least 200 humans in Romania, Greece, Turkey and Russia. Epidemiologists are afraid that the next time such a virus mutates, it could pass from human to human. If this form of transmission occurs, another big pandemic could result. However, disease-control centers around the world are making avian flu their top priority," verily, a gift from h-ll that can destroy Haiti, DR and places beyond.

Please, don't think that the US imperialists are not watching this situation and are preparing contingency plans for it. Of course, one contingency is a quarantine of the whole island if things move dramatically in the wrong direction.

The key seems to rest in the hands of Leonel Fernendez and Rene Preval. Fernandez, in particular, must find the will and ethics to put public health above the profits of DR chicken farmers if the situation calls for it. He won't have to wait for long.

"returned yesterday to Port-au-Prince after a stay of 48 hours. "

Meaning, perhaps, that things aren't as bad as they look ... OR ... it didn't take long to find out what's really going on. So, the implications are equivocal.

"This six member team will have to render a report to the Dominican Agriculture Ministry, so the authorities can make the pertinent decisions"

Meaning, perhaps, things aren't so bad, but the Haitians have some concerns which their report will describe. This implication seems, to me, more positive.

"mission which visited Dominican Republic 'did a good job' "

Clearly, a DR opinion, the Haitians are unlikely to be so self-congratulatory about their 48 hours.

"the ideas are now clearer on the manner in which the situation appears"

Meaning, appearances ... what but about the realities behind appearances? This one is suspicious.

"Egg producers are losing RD$4 million daily after the rises in the prices of chicken feed, such as soya, corn and yellow fat, said the former Dominican Agribusiness Board executive vice president Osmar Benítez," the Dominican Today reported on Jan. 9.

"A Haitian technical delegation which came to Dominican Republic to evaluate the bird flu outbreak in the country, returned yesterday to Port-au-Prince after a stay of 48 hours," the Dominican Today reported Jan. 18.

Is there a link between the two stories? Did the "egg producers" give the chickens slop? And the chickens got sick?

But would cheap slop cause an outbreak of bird flu? I suppose it depends on the kind of slop. But it seems that slop would cause some other type of chicken disorder unless there was some kind convergence of strange tendencies in the chickens.

One thing is for sure, if the "egg producers" can't afford to give the chickens a good meal, then problem is unlikely to go away ... either slop or go out of business.

Some DRs think this is a Haitian health problem. Are they in for shock? These sick chickens are DR chickens.
