SANTO DOMINGO.- The customary war of words president Leonel Fernandez’s Government and the opposition PRD party wage in the political campaign took a downturn last night with a serious new revelation.
The PRD leadership demanded that the candidate to re-election explain his link with Nelson Solano, extradited to the United States on heroin-trafficking charges and who has 18 ongoing government works and concessions contracts.
Ramon Alburquerque and Orlando Jorge Mera showed photos of Solano presenting projects to Fernandez and suggested that the accused could’ve contribute large sums of money to the chief executive’s presidential run in the 2004 campaign.
Ruling PLD party campaign chief, Francisco Javier Garcia, when questioned on the allegation yesterday in a political rally with former members of the also opposition PRSC party, said he’ll respond today in a press conference.
In a twist, several media last night said it was Fernandez himself who signed the extradition order against Solano.

Ok than drive the new highway to Samana which Lio started 11 years ago- and an airport that was shut down after 1 day. Autopista which is falling down- Metro were construction has stopped at the University because of water leaking in. [Any pre soil test would have found this out] PRD have their faults.
