Santo Domingo.-  The Executive Branch’s Legal adviser said today president Leonel Fernandez didn’t know the government contractor Nelson Solano was linked to alleged drug trafficking in the United States. "President Fernandez was warned when the U.S. Department of Justice requested him in extradition, which supposes that neither his condition nor information were registered here on the matter," said Cesar Pina Toribio.

On  Wednesday the opposition PRD party, showing several photos with Fernandez next to Solano, challenged the chief executive to explain his alleged links to the suspect, extradited to the U.S. on April 21, 2006, accused of heroin traffic in that country.

Pina said it was Fernandez himself who signed the Solana’s extradition order. "When the Supreme Court considered that the conditions were given to justify the extradition of the accused, it sent it to the Executive Branch, which is the instance that has the last word, as established by Law," the Legal adviser said.

I do find it almost impossible to believe that Leonel didn't know about ALL thaconnections indicated by the list revealed.
An indepth "backgrtound check would have revealed where this mans money andinfluence emanated from. OOPS, I forgot, the police are involved too, aren't they.

Lets not forget what happends to NORIEGA!!! This Island administrator, his asking for it, how much longer we're going to aloud this guy to continuos laughfing at us, with the excuse that its the United States problem and fault. I'm for eliminating him from his post at any cost, his not good for the US security anyway in the long run. His retoric, and no alliance should be clear for those policy makers by now, this guy "The Administrator" its the enemy and he is trying to destroy the US with drugs. He will like to sleep with Chavez but his a Coward and lame. I can assure you, drug operations in the Island don't happen without the knowledge of the "Administrator", somebody at the Homeland its looking the other way and cashing in!!!!!!!!!!!!!

With all due respect gentlemen.... Put the issue of political corruption into perspective. In m opinion, all governments breed corruption, need corruption and point fingers at corruption. You have all heard the statement , '' You know if a political candidate is canvassing to the public, he's practiceing to see how close he can get to shaking their hand and picking their pocket'
I read other countries newspapers to see what is being printed in papers from around the world, and pay particular attention to what they say about Canada. Our politians are as corrupt as any. Corruption comes in many forms and no government is exempt from the grasp of the forms that come with power. No matter how good the intention of a politition, the first thing they forget is that they are there to serve the people' This leads them to resist remembering the promises they made to get there, regardless of who reminds them.
