Santo Domingo.– The Caribbean Animal Welfare Conference will be held at the Hotel Melia Santo Domingo from 21-24 April.

The training conference brings together Caribbean animal welfare groups, government officials and others working on animal issues in the Caribbean.

Among the topics that will be discussed are animal welfare education, disaster management, marine wildlife protection and how to run a more effective animal protection organization.

This is a good start!

I wonder if they will hide the half dead starving horses that pull the handy cabs.

That pretty much paints the picture of this countries attitude towards pets and animals in general..

Of course this doesn't apply to all here, but I would bet the vast majority

This is a crime and punishable most parts of the world.

A conference on animal welfare?...when there are thousands of PEOPLE in DR struggling to survive.....seriously.

This conference is being put on by the World Society for the Protection of Animals, Humane Society International, The Pegasus Foundation and other International Animal Welfare Groups. DR is simply hosting the Conference, not holding it!

Maybe you all should attend and learn about all the hard work hundreds of animal welfare volunteers in the Caribbean do everyday....
