SANTO DOMINGO.- The electoral campaign period will formally begin on Wednesday, Januuary 16, said the Central Electoral Board (JCE) after a meeting last night.
That day the court will hold a public hearing to read the proclamation’s legal transaction, as the Electoral Law stipulates.
The electoral judges also agreed to reject appeals by the opposition PRD and PRSC parties to review the resolution which prohibited electoral propaganda before the campaign’s formal opening.
During the hours long meeting, the organism agreed to use the necessary funds to stage the next elections, and temporarily suspended some programs and projects which would be affected by the reduction of its budget.
It also announced the inaugural of the National Electoral Training and Civil State School on the 31st of this month.

None of theParties seem to be able to control their spending, build the infrastructure, educate the population, get an efficient energy (electrical) distribution, etc., etc., etc.
Just what is the Government good for, except to line theincumbents pockets with the taxpayer's money?
Maybe, if , for once, they decided to spend the money on thecountry instead of themselves, the DR just might enter a "Second World" category instead of ranking almost last in the "Third World" category.
SOME DAY????????
