NAGUA. - New York Mets pitcher Ambiorix Burgos said he’s innocent in the September 30 deaths of Josefina Minaya and Anjeli Faña, killed while riding a motorbike on the Nagua-Cabrera highway, on the Dominican north coast. “I’m innocent…., I’m going to come out of this case because I haven’t committed the fact they blame me for.”

He revealed that during the interrogations prosecutors pressed him to confess to having caused Minaya and Faña’s deaths.

Interviewed by newspaper Listin Diario, Burgos said it was his cousin Edwin Silverio Sanchez who was driving his Hummer, the SUV which collided with the motorbike. “I expect to come out this well and I’m going to forge ahead,” said Burgos, who’s convinced the accusation stems “from envy.”

When asked why he waited nine days after the accident to turn himself in, the hurler said he did so “for reasons of  security.”

It will go very far and he has deep pockets...There is another set of rules if you have the money to pay officials...it is unwritten and can change based on the amount you have to pay.

Yeah right, the accusations were made out of "envy". I bet the mother of this poor girl was really envious of this local superstar, so she decided to invent a story that he was in love with her daughter (something which more witnesses have stated) and blame it all on him...

ps. Waiting 9 days will get a lot of the illegal substances (like Paya-powder) out of your system, or at least makes it a lot harder to detect them....

Are you kidding..can the DR police detect evidence, and apply it in a case..wooooow, now that would be amazing. This guy won't be missed in a Major Baseball field for one second, he should get what's coming to him, and his cousin for covering up.
I guess now we'll follow and see how the justices system, applies to Baseball players who think they have the bling bling in DR. Why did it take him almost 17 days to show his face after the crime? Was he waiting for his paycheck from Los Mets to cover his legal fees?....hey news update: "His brakes didn't work".

This guy has the nerve to go on TV (Nuria) and say "yeah I was in the car but my cousin was driving, I think we hit something cause the window was cracked" If you hit something wouldn't you get outta the car and check your bumper? Come on you kill 2 people and leave the country, like they're animals! what's wrong with this picture.
He liked her
she dissed him
he got pissed, end of story.
Her mom don't want money, it's another thing called...Justice.
