Navy chief Julio C. Ventura Bayonet.
Santo Domingo.- The unidentified Dominican Navy officer who's cooperating with authorities in the investigation of the murder of seven foreigners in Paya, Baní, received a threatening phone call from Colombian drug traffickers last night, said a source quoted by newspaper El Nacional.
“We know it was you. Change the tune of the song, if you sing, you and your family may pay dearly,” the naval officer was warned, and as a precaution was escorted along with his family to an undisclosed site after receiving that call.
The office’s cooperation led the police to arrest a group of seamem allegedly linked to the deaths of 7 foreigners, mostly Colombians, to avenge a drug rip off.
The officers charged in the case are the midlibe officers Ricardo Guzman Perez, Miguel Pena Figuereo, Roberto Augusto Peña Valdez, Jesus Sanchez Piña, Chalas Jorge and Rodriguez Montero, the latter two identified only by their last names.
The other accused of the crime are the businessman José Luis Montás (El Duro Motors), Dennis Rodríguez Pérez, Luis de Jesús Lara Martínez (El Churro), Janeuri Manuel Calvo Tejada, Alexander Carmona Restrepo (El Flaco), Onéximo Marmolejos Santana (One or El Ingeniero), Noé Martín Sterling Villalón (La Chalupa or El Loco), Joaquín Féliz Pérez (El Colorao) and Félix Mora Terrero, among others.
They are accused of killing Jose Atencio Dario Vargas (Don), Fabio Eduardo de Leon Peroza (Negro Bello), Dario Oscar Naranjo (Fierrito) and Jesus Dario Hans (Blanquito).
Also Antonio Suluaga Mustiola or Sernino Enrique Marín Gutiérrez (Washy), Apolinar Altamirano Cuéllar, Geovanny Alejandro Bwie Duffy.
The only survivor of the shootings is Orin Clinto Gómez (Holi Gómez).

The Colombian said- "We know it was you. Change the tune of the song, if you sing, you and your family may pay dearly,”
What kind of threat is "you MAY pay dearly" I seem to remember the old Colombian Neck Tie bit of the 70's and 80"s I dont think they told them we MAY give you one of those. JEEEZZZZZ it would be like them breaking into your house and politely asking "Excuse me MAY we use your Grey Pupon"

This so-called threat is a bunch of nonsense, to put it mildly. This is simply some self-aggrandizing, hero making, bullshit.
Colombians don't call and threaten in such a namby-pamby manner ("may pay dearly").
They don't talk. They do.

According to today's DR1, it looks like the accused are facing serious problems:
To date, the Navy has identified and expelled ten officials from its ranks in connection with the massacre, but it is also emerging that this problem reaches deeper within the institution.
Imagine, they were all expelled. Nothing like having the penalty suit the crime. And this is nothing like it.

... received a threatening phone call from Colombian drug traffickers last night...
oooo
so how they know it's a Colombian drug trafficker that was calling?
* Did the caller have a Colombian accent?
* Or did the informant recognize the voice?
* Or did the caller introduce himself as such? “Hi, i am a Colombian Drug trafficker. We know it was you...“
* Or maybe it said {Colombian drug trafficker} on the caller-id? (Which reminds me of the Al Qaeda caller-id video on youtube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhvZo11Oc68 )
Seriously now, I don't buy this story. Like previous posters have noted, if this was the case he would have been dead by now.

I would wager there are many unidentified Dominican Naval officers in fear today of the people they double crossed....It will take generations if ever to remove the stain of this event on the Officer Corps

GC, keelhauling removes even the toughest stains...
Seriously now, every time some army/navy/air force personnel get caught they are getting expelled and handed over to the civil courts. Anyone knows if the DR has a military court as well? Shouldn't they get courtmarshalled?

Nothing new. Same stuff, different day. The greedy RD Gov, military, corrupt police & DNCD have been swimming with sharks for years. What's new?
All these guys where getting paid to do their jobs. But instead they chose to be corrupt! They knew what they were getting into. They new the risk of laying down with dogs (i.e. drug traffickers).
When you have a RD Gov that is SOFT on crime, winks on trafficking becuz the RD Gov is 2 faced & speaks to the US Gov 1 way but has permissiveness on the other hand.
All are concerned about the tip of the iceberg (Bani murders) but no one is concerned about what happens everyday in the DR that leads up to this.
Any afternoon, you can go to many barrios to see local police or DNCD come & shake down Tigres of their drug money (but will not arrest them). This widespread corruption is an everyday deal in the RD. It is a SYSTEM and this is the part that US DEA, FBI and our intelligence can't figure out.
IT'S A SYSTEM... STUPID!

In the past, when men in the DR used to have testicles, the ones that would be afraid and threatened would be the drug dealers in Colombia.

The Colombian air force is shooting down planes, using US air support but the DR does not get permission from our "Big Brother"?
