SANTO DOMINGO. - Dominican and Haitian Senate leaders today energetically condemned the criminal aggressions against the Haitian community in the country, in the wake of the lynchings in the towns Neyba and Guayubin, near the border, where two Dominicans and two Haitians were killed in separate incidents.

Reinaldo Pared said the actions carried out by Dominicans are “barbaric” and isolated and called for understanding. " We condemn these actions that don’t deserve the support of those with a smidgeon of reason, and are barbaric and criminal acts by people who taking advantage of an isolated occurrence, to rob the properties of these Haitian citizens who live in our country."

Haiti Senate president Kelly Bastien said the violence which his compatriots have been the victim of is unacceptable, since they attempt against human dignity. He said the Dominican government must take the necessary measures so they aren’t repeated. “That’s why we want to express our firm will to continue working to improve the respect for fundamental rights in both countries and of the citizens of both countries."

Speaking in Creole Bastien called on his fellow citizens who live in Dominican Republic to stay calm and avoid violence.

Haiti ambassador Fritz Cinéas also participated in the meeting and asked punishment for the people responsible for the violence actions of the last few days in the section El Grajo, Bahoruco province (southwest) and Guayubín, Montecristi province (northwest).

That is not a matter of racism. A few months ago the same thing happened in South Africa, when poor South Africans started a bloody nationwide campaign against Zimbabwe immigrants. In that case, those were two black African nations. What happens to Haitians and Dominicans, as in the case in South Africa, is simply a struggle for resources. Many Dominicans had lost their jobs, because of the massive influx of Haitians to our country. Soon or later this situation has to explode. Where you have a lot of explosive powder, the only thing you need is a spark. Haitian leader should do more to create jobs in their country.

Funny thing like I mentioned already, the "supposedly" Dominican president always choose to travel whenever a crisis emerge in Dominican Republic.
Also this is not an isolated case, just today in a Moca a group of 20 Haitians killed a Dominican
to steal his belongings, it will get worse by the day, either inmigration, army and goverment do their job or We will have a "kosovo" or "Balcanization".

Both of these governments don't care about their own people. The only difference is the Haitian government is ten times worse.

I have always said....give it another 50 or 100 years, and this island will be flying under (1) Flag. There is no true back bone in Haiti for it to survive on it's own. Lets start enjoying the Kompa, Merengue, Bachata, and live in harmony folks, stop the childish finger pointing, and re educate get over it and start saving lives.

These are times of stress and duress, EVERYONE on both sides of the border are finding it harder and harder to simply eke out an existence. Okay, a given is that it's harder on the Haitian side but my point is that in these hard times emotions and anger run high!!! What chance does the world have of resolving it's problems when one little island of two different and diverse cultures can't work out their differences, work together towards a common cause and for shit's sake forget the trangressions by both sides 200 years ago. This all has to start with the governments from both sides to start sending positive messages and actions to their respective peoples. Okay, I am neither Hatian or Dominican, but I live here in what could truly be a prosperous paradise for everyone if both sides would just put forth an effort. To those of you that will use my post to further your hate posts..........go shit in your hat!! This is way beyond individuals and private petty politics.

My friends, are you really surprised? I am baffled that more of this did not happen sooner and that it is not a lot worse then what it is. What were we expecting, allowing this uncontrolled massive influx of impoverish foreigner to our country? If it is bad now, just wait a little longer, it is going to get a lot worse. Are we going to sit and wait for another Trujillo to come along and slaughter 20,000 Haitians like he did in the 1930's. For crying out loud Haitians currently represent aproximately 18%-25% of the DR population, taking away the already scarce resources of our people. No country in the world would allow such anarchy to develop. I feel bad for the Haitians but we can not allow their situation to hurt us. It is a matter of urgency, the authorities must take drastic action and bring proper controls. Otherwise, it is inevitable that when you help some one that causes you harm, it is no longer a favor, it will turn into resentment and eventually into violence.

Trujillo sure knew how to give payback to these Haitian carpetbaggers and squatters, he got rid of about 30,000 in a week and the rest of the illegals ran back to Haiti as far as their big feet would take them without passing "GO".
Haitians can not be allowed to come when they please to DR to loot, bring diseases and stress our public hospitals for their new born and their mothers.
But I am not endorsing lynching, that pollutes the environment. I am more inclined to the "Kool Aid" solution.
For how long to we have to be the fu...ken Haitian victims and be portrayed as the bad guys when it's just the opposite?
When this Emperor Obama and his big butt wife take over, may God find us well confessed!
As he has said that he will do the right thing with Haitian Dominican problem.

This event was a wake up call for the "Lazy, inneficient and slow motion" PLD goverment, hopefully They will be in the "willing and able" mode to correct this stupidity.
They must star deporting Haitians by the book in order and organize Dominican Republic before
We do have another event or correction "few events" in the near future.

just because there is no hope for haiti to ever become a stable republic we dominicans have to learn how to share our little country with foreing invaders, a moronic comment the one that can only come from a loser with no sense of patriotism. We are not responsible for haiti demise they choose their own path. they should carry their own cross. we should live we peace and respect but everybody on their own patio.

the fact that our Haitian's DominicanToday.com virtual residents are talking about integration and unity and crying racism when they should instead be talking about how to help rebuild their own country is shocking to me.

You can say anything you want about D.R and my peoples but we love our country there is no denying that.

This situation needs to be monitored closely and swift justice needs to be served to the murderers who killed these Haitian's. I am not taking sides but historically these type of situations turn out really bad.
Example (sorry to wiki)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1992_Los_Angeles_riots

The Los Angeles riots of 1992, also known as the Rodney King uprising or the Rodney King riots, were sparked on April 29, 1992 when a jury acquitted four police officers accused in the videotaped beating of black motorist Rodney King following a high-speed pursuit. Thousands of people in the Los Angeles area rioted over the six days following the verdict. Widespread looting, assault, arson, and murder occurred, and property damages totaled one billion dollars. Many of the crimes were gang-motivated or perpetrated. In all, 53 people died during the riots.[1]
"In addition to the immediate trigger of the verdict, many other factors were cited as reasons for the unrest, including extremely high une

This is sad, how low the forum have come down to, whatever happened to the voice of reason, where are the great poster on both sides ?… ie Lautaro, Jabao ect.. just to name a few.

Jacirez, I concurred wholeheartedly with you, here we have the forum high jacked by a few half illiterate idiots, spewing hate and ignorance. These Bonobos in question are nothing but cowards, which will not hesitate to kick a dying dog.

As usual Antonio adopting a holier than though attitude in this forum while he spouts his bile and demontrates his "bonobo" side in Topix!!

You cannot trust a Haitian as far as you can throw them ,they are treacherous creatures who only speak of peace when at a disadvantage but show their true animalistic traits when in the majority ,I only hope that the Dominican government never allows Haitians to ever have any power in DR because that would be the en of the DR and the whole island would become a wasteland just like the western third.

Antonio should focus on the major latrine he and his countrymen have created instead of focusing so much time on our nation,if DR mistreats Haitians then they should leave to the dear fictional Haiti "cherie"and not come to take a crap on our already beleagered nation.
