SANTO DOMINGO.- The Executive Branch yesterday appointed Angel Lockward as Dominican ambassador in Colombia. The designation of the Cabinet level officer without functions is contained in president Leonel Fernandez decree 622-08.
The ex leader of the oppositon PRSC party had been minister of Industry and Commerce in the Hipólito Mejía government (2000-2004), position in which he was accused of corruption for alleged malfeasance in the handling of RD$200 million through a program of subsidy coupons for propane gas.
The National District 3rd Collegiate Court acquitted him in June, after the prosecutors in the case desisted from the complaint.

Now that's what I call scrapping from the bottom of the barrel, eh Lie-onel, pero es Pa' Lante Que Vamos!
If Charles Mason ever gets paroled, I am sure Lie-onel will appoint him to something as well!
Accused of corruption only?, he was indicted with a bunch of other government employees that were doing the "coupon scam" with the gas rationing system during his rule as minister with Hipoloco.
But the courts later threw the case out as usual and customary with high ranking politicos.
I guess he is going to get an advanced degree from Colombia's best..........
