This helicopter, owned reportedly by a major drug trafficker, was kept next to the one of the Presidency during Mr. Mejia's term.

SANTO DOMINGO.- Ex president Hipólito Mejía said yesterday that he knows so many things about drug trafficking in the country, that what knows the population is little. “You are hearing nothing more than some information. If you knew what I know, and were up to date on the unfolding of that activity, I assure you that you would’ve gone away to live in that village of yours,” he said to a reporter’s question.

“I don’t want to scare you or anyone," Mejía said to justify his failure to identify those responsible.”

Although he alleged that it’s such a delicate topic and doesn’t want to "soil" with "polititicking or demagoguery," he affirmed that the "fly-ball" is dropping at the feet of the authorities, and that the topic drops close to the "chimpanzee" from "gravitacional force" or "osmosis."

Mejia said the report of the commission that investigates the murder of seven Colombians in Paya, Baní, is a distraction and asked that Peravia province senator Wilton Guerrero’s revelations, on complicity with drug trafficking be projected to the rest of the country. "I have all the information that you can imagine and that president (Leonel) Fernandez thinks that I don’t know them."

Stick a tire pressure gauge in his ear.

Correct me if I am wrong but if a citizen has information on criminal activity are they not obliged by the law to report what they know or else they are abeding? Or is that only the obligation of employees of the Government? If he knows these things, did he just learn them or was he aware of them during the period in which he had sworn to uphold the constitution; which, again if I am not mistaken, includes dutiful application of the criminal code?!?

Shouldn't Hipo be receiving a call from Vincho about now; "citizen, do you have anything to tell me?"

Maldito, sad to say this, but you are incorrect. i am not aware of the niceties of the Dominican constitution, but, unless it is radically different from many others, no citizen is bound by law to reveal information about a crime. if a prosecutor thinks , with a reasonable degree of certitude, that someone has meaningful information, he can subpoena the person as an amicable, or hostile, witness. failure to disclose information is not tantamount to aiding and abetting. people who fail to volunteer what they know cannot be treated as criminals. the onus is generally upon the prosecutor to mount a case. hence, in a constitution such as the US, you have the right to plead the 5th amendment of the constitution, your right to remain silent. i am not up to speed on the Napoleonic Code, so i am not sure the protections are similar. maybe you can quote me the statute if you have access to it.

This moron does not know how to keep his idiotic trap shot. He is a disgrace saying such things,
I can't believe he was president once and that he will run again to make it easier for Leonel to get reelected because with a dumb bell like Hipoloco running against Leonel it's a mismatch.
In summary he is like "Cantinflas" because he utters many words and says nothing, this is non-
intelligent speak.
The reason because Hipoloco the moron was elected was because the PLD in their best government to date 1996-2000
was following the austerity doctrine and were labeled "come solos" by Balaguer who helped elect Leonel and they claimed did not "share" the governmental posts or have "botellas" and cronyism like they did now, that Dominicans are used to.
There is no chance in hell he will win another election after the worse 4 year government in Dominican history. He is responsible for the modifying the constitution so he had could try to reelect himself. He is Josean's boss and pays him.

All the drugs he allowed in were killing his own people. What would the poor think of that?

I will be ashamed to put up with a nut case like Hipoloco for a boss, even if I was mentally "challenged" like Josean or Belial.
BTW Belial where are you? and the socialist, imperialistic, bourgeois comments?
No more time left in the prison library time?

josean, Wether something is funny or not is entirely up to the individual! Hipolito was a joke on the Dominican people but no one thought that was funny or was laughing when he took the country to the brink of bankruptcy and/or a failed nation. So to you my joke was not funny and in a free world you are entitled to your opinion..............we all know what opinions are like and everyone has one or possibly is one. Why don't you send me a sample of what you think is funny so I'll know in the future when I should laugh. Maybe the joke was on me, maybe not....it wouldn't be the 1st time nor the last I suspect. Still LOL as it's good for the heart.

HippoLoco is a fool! Everytime he opens his mouth he proves his stupidity. A fool will make jokes often making light of things to cover-up un-intelligence. There is no love lost between HippoLoco and Prez LF. Thus, if HippoLoco knew something then he would disclose it to undermine Prez LF. Both Prez LF & HippoLoco let you know where they stand on illegal drug trafficking by their SILENCE on drug trafficking during each of their tenures in office.

There is, has been and continues to be WIDESPREAD RD GOV corruption on drug trafficking among all RD officials, DNCD and local police. All the while, each Prez remains SILENT!

Weekly, Santiago police come to my barrio of Ensanche Caonabo to shake-down drug points and collect payoffs with the silent approval of the RD Gov. Corruption is sickening.
