Nagua, Dominican Republic.- Justice of the peace Nicolaza Zabala last night ordered New York Mets pitcher Ambiorix Burgos to spend three months in temporary incarceration, on charges he caused the death of two women in a traffic accident.
Burgos was immediately escorted to the preventive jail in the Army post in the city.
The Justice Ministry yesterday asked the court to hear the charges of voluntary manslaughter filed by the relatives of Josefina Minaya and Anyely Faña, the two women who died.
The judge ruled that Burgos violated the Transit Law while driving a Hummer, that collided with the motorcycle and causing the two deaths on September 30.
