SANTO DOMINGO.- One of the convicted for drug trafficking in the Quirino Paulino case has implicated government officials and senior military and police officers in the proceedings against him in New York, where he was sentenced to 14 years in prison under plea bargaining.

Luis Eduardo Rodriguez Cordero (El Principe) has revealed, according to court documents, that “there are many people involved” from the government as well as the Armed Forces, although the names of those allegedly involved were not disclosed.

For weeks it’s been rumored that the U.S. judicial authorities would be asking the Dominican authorities to extradited those implicated.

“It’s well known that in the Dominican Republic the corrupt officials of the Armed Forces are lined with money (by the narcotics traffickers). They are paid very good money. They are officials with millions of dollars,” said Linda George, Rodriguez’s attorney. “This has been part of the systemic corruption in the Dominican Republic. We all know that’s a fact.”

According to documents published by the Web site Diario Horizonte, George’s client invested money in the drug operation just like the so-called Ulloa twins, the brothers David and Jean Paul, although Rodriguez named the ex Dominican Army captain Quirino Paulino as the ringleader. “I ask the forgiveness of the citizens of the United States.”

This is my country that gave me an opportunity. I request the forgiveness of the honorable judge, of the government, my family. I thank my lawyer, George, who has worked hard at my side all this time,” Rodriguez said in the hearing, after pleading guilty, according to documents obtained by reporter Margarita Canahuate and published by Diario Horizonte.

The prosecutor John O'Donnell said in court that Rodriguez and his brother Samuel -who is a fugitive- had worked in the drug business for 10 years. “Basically, they bought drugs from their suplidores in the Dominican Republic.

They prepared the drug so it arrived at Puerto Rico and New York, to sell it to the regional distributors. The evidence shows that during 10 years Rodriguez worked directly with the supplier to transport large drug shipments.

The Rodriguezes and the Ulloa twins worked together, each making 3.5 million dollars net,” states O'Donnell in the indictment.

How easy is it? "Follow the money" And you couldn't do that right.

Moronic Dominicans.

And you wonder why you have to live in a house with bars on the window. It is a country that fosters corruption and anti-social behavior.

The poorest feel they are entitled because they know it isn't what you know it is only who you know. So education will never be a priority.

Do not refer to Dominicans as moronic you righteous and pompous vulgarian.
Who do you think you are to come and lecture us with slander?
Better change your MO you stupid a..hole and apologize.
And BTW these are old news, the names have already been given since a few years back and nothing has been done, because it will shatter the foundations of the fragile democracy here if
all involved would be named, including some otherwise "untouchable" icons in Dominican political folklore and the military.
This guy don't know s..t otherwise he would have sang and made a deal like the others did.
He is just crying for attention and a lenient sentence.

If the US justice system has integrity as we often say "lady justice is blind" then they US Attorney General should be going after these high ranking RD Gov officials for aiding the process of drug shipments into the USA and its territories. There should be international warrants issues for all parties involved and their wealth recapture no matter if they are currently in power or formally in power. The RD democracy although fragile can recover and be stronger, better and LESS corruption (if there are good new precedents set). No matter how high you are ... you should NOT be above the law.

Honestly, I do NOT have much faith in the Ambassador Fannin types because while we spend millions of US taxpayer $$ in the drug war the US Embassy staffers are plannings political events with the same corrupt RD Gov officials engage in the drug trafficking. Consequently, when micro-drug lords in my barrio are allowed to operate above the law without intervention from anyone. It's all about $!

How long have I been writing about drugs in Santiago barrio of Los Platanitos (Ensanche Caonabo)? How long has Choppo Pichardo (Jose Annibal Lopez Pichardo) & his drug family micro trafficked as a regional distributor? How long has the Pichardo drug house on Calle A Transversal arriba in the above barrio where the 2nd floor stores drugs in the Pichardo home?

Now if all you guys know this... you can be DARN sure that others have made complaints to the US Embassy, DNCD & Police etc.

So, then the question is WHY after MANY years has the drug house been allowed to operate, accumulate both wealth & arms? Like, the barrio's largest multi-story apt building was built with PICHARDO drug money.

Fannin & RD officials know this so why isn't anything done?

Even though there is a LIST with names do NOT be so sure anything gets done becuz of "APATHY" of GOP's like Fannin is INCREDIBLE! We had "arms 4 hostages" so maybe the GOP's are doing drug trades now & can NOT convict...

The contents of this report is completely false..
Eduardito, has not ratted on anyone in the Dominican Rep..
hence the reason for the 14 year sentence. The longest yet in the Quirino case.
He has simply pleaded guilty for his involvement..

No one in that situation would put the lives of his or her family in jepordy.. .
