SANTO DOMINGO.- Dominican Republic’s deputies, with the support of the United Nations Program for Development (PNUD), and Spain’s International Cooperation Agency, began a seminar in the beach resort Bavaro (east) yesterday, on constitutional reform bill submitted by president Leonel Fernandez.

The Chamber of Deputies will make a “modest economic contribution” to carry out the seminar, said a source of that organism, though it was learned unofficially that it would provide around 700,000 pesos.

The seminar aims to analyze the content of texts, and discussions to better understanding the bill.

Chamber of Deputies president Julio Cesar Valentin said the rights, guarantees, fundamental duties and the system of checks and balances in the organization of power are some of the topics they’ll discuss.

Revolution first and see what happens after, show these dirt s.bags to respect people's lifes because while lots of poor people suffer from not getting electricity to work in a decent manner these filthy pigs destroy the country resources.

Hope to get rid of the PLD in the next congress elections to teach them a lesson.

fellas, these guys have no shame, so get used to it. Texasshoe, these guys have no concept of what it is to serve the public. the great number of these guys constitutes a bunch of lazy, useless, do and know nothings. it is redundant to state the obvious, but these guys are, in the main, some semi-literate goofballs, who should be maleteros at the airport. they occupy positions of public responsibility because some political godfather willed it to them. and we wonder why the country has no lights!!! as we speak, they are in the process of convening the filling of positions in the next government in the USA . all the jobs are published in a book called the PLUM BOOK. the job descriptions, the qualifications, and the salaries, are all listed. any and every person can buy the book, and apply for the job of their choice. applicants will be interviewed, and the best persons will GENERALLY be chosen. you think that could happen here?

Josean, somewhere within Rubirosa lies a good and decent man. i just do not know where to start looking, because everything is shrouded in anger and bitterness toward Haiti and Haitians. if the guy would lighten up, he would be perfectly acceptable to the human race.

Dreadlocks, please do not ever reduce the excellent standard of your ealier submissions by getting into any personal comments with others as I enjoy reading your comments on the subject in hand, ...maybe because I normally agree with you . The quick half smart one liners are easy and I hope you do not resort to them
The official salaries for the various ministers are published and are much more than the equivalent in europe, australasia or canada, sorry I do not know the usa salaries, but in those countries there is much more of a principle to serve and do a duty , than to acquire wealth through an official position. As you point out the concept of public service is relatively unknown here.

Ricardolito, thank you for your complimentary remarks, though i am not sure i am deserving. i confess a tendency at times to respond with caustic commentary, but i like to think that most recipients deserve it. too many people refuse to stay on topic, seeking primarily to dish out insults. i, sadly, find myself unable to turn tail and run. but i promise i will try to live up to your assessment of my postings. once again, many thanks.

correction, GC; the wheels are just beginning to come off. you aint seen nuthin yet!!! if GM goes in the crapper, we are dead. remember, this is not like Japan, with toyota, nissan, honda, daihatsu, mazda ,etc. USA has 3 auto makers. too much concentration of assets in too few places, so when one company goes down, it takes down 40% of the industry. so much for mergers!!!

Hey josean, GC, texas, rubi, dread!
Dread:
I agree with you and love Brahma light it's smooth...but please do not insult the maleteros at the airport comparing them to the deputies.
The system is corrupted and rotten my friends. The ONLY solution is to disband the congress and start
from scratch. That is the reality of the situation, there is no quick cure. The remedy is a quick surgical
removal of the cancer to start brand new.
We do not need two houses of congress. A reduced one should be sufficient.
These do nothing leeches are just "toll gate operators" and could care less about what happens to their country and motherland. Their only banner is greed. With a few exceptions of course. There
are some honest men in there, but there are a minority that keep getting overruled by special interest groups and lobbyists.
I too am frustrated with all the rampant and ongoing graft and corruption. It's sickening. Considering all the brave Dominicans who died for a better country.
