SANTO DOMINGO.- The Sentencing judge Saulo Isabel Diaz issued an exit impediment against ex bank executives Manuel Arturo Pellerano and Juan Felipe Mendoza, who were sentenced to eight years in prison after being convicted of fraud in the US$900 million Bancrédito collapse.

The Bancredito fraud is the country’s second largest after the Baninter US$2.5  billion collapse.

The judge said he notified his ruling to the Immigration Agency on Friday so the appropriate measures are taken.

Diaz said he’s currently reviewing the motions presented by Pellerano’s and Mendoz’s lawyers, who requested a stay of the incarceration order, for which he is studying their arguments.

The ruling makes the two ex bankers subject to arrest at any time to begin serving out their sentence.

Until someone with money does time for a criminal act, of which they are convicted, the judicial system here will continue to be looked at as a joke.

I'm happy to hear this news but I'd be much happier if this people were to serve their terms in prison in a country like The UK or The United States. In the Dominican Republic, with such a big amount being stolen? No way. These people are gonna be the King of the jungle. There would be bribes over here, bribes over there and finally, after 2 years , Freeeeeedommm, and back to normal life, with all the cash hidden somewhere, maybe buried in their back yards, en el patio.Good bye,

These two guys probably have multi-million dollar villas in Casa de campo and Cap Cana.
Sell all their assets and pay back some of the debt.
Justice must be served.
