SANTO DOMINGO.- Two senior bishops are in favor of disarming the civilians, especially the criminals and called on the authorities and society to join forces to confront the crime wave that affects the country.

Monsignor Archbishop emeritus Juan Antonio Flores said it’s necessary to disarm the population, but admits that it’s necessary to disarm the thugs first.

He said the police needs professionalism, because if they aren’t educated excesses on the part of the authorities can be expected, killing innocent people or without a hearing, or trial. “We must have the Police with education, pay them well and not indiscriminately admit those who want to be in the police."

For Higuey Diocese bishop Nicanor Peña, crime in the country has increased mainly due to the family’s decomposition and the distribution and consumption of drugs, which he said has reached an incalculable dimension.

He also favors the population’s disarmament because it’s a cause of incidents that bring about deaths and deplored the arms in the hands of civilians and criminals. "I believe that the authorities must take exemplary measures before the robberies, crimes and assaults, because sometimes crimes are committed and people are not punished, as they should be punished.”

So what are we going to use to defend ourselves against the armed criminal elements?
Crosses?
Come on Mr. Sotana be real!
In a perfect world we won't need guns, and the police will protect you,
tell that to the bandits looking out to rip you off and kill you.
You will get a good laugh just before they start pistol whipping you.

Do they pay a bounty for shooting cattle and horse thieves?
I can get a Garrett .50 with a 40X to do the job from afar.
That will be fun, fun, fun!

I am sure this fine gentlemen is surrounded by armed guards that protect him. The same hypocrisy displayed by Obama being against gun ownership while he had the secret service protecting him with wood sticks.

"The common dogma [of fundamentalists] is fear of modern knowledge, inability to cope with the fast change in a scientific-technological society, and the real breakdown in apparent moral order in recent years.... That is why hate is the major fuel, fear is the cement of the movement, and superstitious ignorance is the best defence against the dangerous new knowledge. ... When you bring up arguments that cast serious doubts on their cherished beliefs you are not simply making a rhetorical point, you are threatening their whole Universe and their immortality. That provokes anger and quite frequently violence. ... Unfortunately you cannot reason with them and you even risk violence in confronting them. Their numbers will decline only when society stabilizes, and adapts to modernity."

Dread, Rush Limbaugh evaded serving his country at a time when it needed him. By getting his private doctor to state he had a pilonidal cyst on his bottom and needed a 4f (unfit for military service), Rush avoided the Vietnam war. Allegedly, he had either an "anal cyst" or a "ingrown hair follicle".

he is an anal cyst! maybe the army rejected the slob because the logistics of transporting his meals were insuperable obstacles for the armed services.

Dread, He doesn't think he would still scorn and merciless sarcasm Rush would unleash, with the revelation that a prominent Democrat had skipped out of a war, over something like that. And his audience will believe every single word.

Yes, I guess Rush Limbaugh was slightly intelligent in getting his doctor to invent something; Kerry less so although later he may have seen the errror of his ways in tormenting the Vietnam nation.

Well...as an anti gun control liberal atheist I disagree with the padres. Taking guns away from law-biding people is wrong! How will they defend themselves from the criminals who will get guns anyway in the black market?!
Written by: generoso, 18 Nov 2008 10:27 PM

Edward
defend yourself with: Kung Fu I guess, also spears, knives, garrotes, mace, tear gas, knuckles, baseball bats, voo doo,
voo doo powder to make them zombies, machetes, Chilenas, Kung Fu stars, poisonous snakes,
black widow spyders, automobiles, mother in laws.
Use your imagination!
Anti gun laws are so useless to stop crime. I was in Japan once a few years back and they have some of the most strict gun laws in the world, and you know what you can get any weapon you want, ANY, in the Tokyo black market if you have enough money. So gun laws are just to keep the decent law abiding citizen and collector from
owning a pistol or shotgun for sport or self defense. Criminal elements will always get the weaponry they want for some hard cash. Period.
