SANTO DOMINGO .- A group of women held a peaceful protest in front of the courthouse in Ciudad Nueva, where at least six chained themselves to the door of the prosecutor's office, demanding that the government halt the violence against women.

The women screamed to demand a halt to gender violence, the murders of women and discrimination against women with HIV Aids. They asked for health care, schooling for children, more participation in the distribution of lands, more attention to seniors and exemplary punishment for the perpetrators of any of those crimes.

Going to need a few more to turn heads.. but at least they got their 15 minutes of fame..

I am glad some women are taking action. It was about time their voice should be heard. It is a great beginning. More will follow since it common in the island the “monkey see, monkey do”. Men mistreating women should be held responsible and should do jail time or community work cleaning up the streets.

Wow! You must be a real man-hating girl if you have to reply to something I wrote back in November!


BTW The news is filled with stories of spoiled women who kill their husbands.

Violence is violence. I don't care about the sex of the person.
