SANTO DOMINGO. - The Supreme Court yesterday upheld an appellate court sentence of 8 years in prison against the ex executives Manuel A. Pellerano and Felipe de Mendoza, for the RD$20 billion fraud of the collapsed Bancrédito bank, the country’s second largest failure after the Baninter US$2.5 billion case.

The high court penal chamber’s ruling is irrevocable, which means the ex bankers will have to begin serving the sentence, signed by the justices Hugo Alvarez Valencia, Julio Ibarra Rios, Edgar Hernandez Mejía, Dulce Maria Rodriguez and Victor Jose Estrella.

Although the prosecution obtained two guilty verdicts in the Bancrédito case, Justice minister Radhamés Jiménez surprisingly dropped the charges, stating that it didn’t have “any type of interest in the case,” because it was an action begun by a group of depositors from the US who were later repaid.

josean;
I heard that the immigration department is looking for your Haitians for deportation.
You obviously are always badgering the DR and everything good in this island so there is
no question that you are not Dominican as you sympathize with cynical anti Dominican criticism.
Readers should bombard josean with doses his own medicine as he works full time for the
not defunct Haitian Ton Ton Macoutes always trying to undermine Dominican national sentiment.
As well as being a paid agent for the much hated Hipoloco Mejia current of the PRD.

One more thing josean lack of education is evident in his terrible grammar and lack of originality in
his comments.
Like belial who was evicted from DT he is being closely watched by the department of Homeland Security internet section.
As you know belial also was sending inflamatory messages out of prison and was a well known terrorist sympathizer aligning himself with the likes of USA sworn enemies of the like of Chavez and Fidel.

speak to me in your native language of creole my friend.
I heard that a few contributors are putting a guan gua on you so you would give us a rest.
You sound like a young fellow, I can sense that your limited sentences are just because of your poor
command of the english language.
You should really apply yourself and study there is plenty of time for you Haitians to educate yourself.
As a matter of fact I am really happy today that Obama won and everything remained cool. It shows a lot of civility and the whole world was glad because of the american voters choice.
Too bad your boricua buddy could not vote in PR neither did you!
