The journalists will become more aware of the stark differences, but also the similarities.
SANTO DOMINGO. - With the participation of Haitian and Dominican journalists and the auspices of Plan International of Dominican Republic and Haiti, the southern province of Pedernales will host the First Dominican-Haitian Border Journalists Forum, where they’ll analyze the border communities’ reality and their role in the development of those towns.
The organizer of the activity slated for November 14, to 16, is the group Spacinsular, which deals with topics of the Dominican-Haiti relations and promotes brotherhood between both peoples.
In a statement, Plan International of Dominican Republic and Haiti, and Espacinsular, said the Forum’s objective is to sensitize journalists who work in the Dominican-Haitian border, on their role regarding the challenges the border communities face to reach development centered on childhood.

Rubi, I am sorry.
But, it seems at times when we expect you to use your intellect to shed some light on certain issues you seem to envelop yourself with your old insecurities and worries about Haitians.
" The illegal Haitians are cominig, they are going to darken and take over the Dominican Republic "
This will never happen,it is "ecology",It is the law of the survival of the strongest>
If there is enough ressources to share with Haitians , the Dominicans will tolerate Haitians
But if the Dominicans are stressed economically and ressources are limited and scarce ,they will force Haitians back to Haiti "BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY"
This is coming from a Haitian Dominican who knows what he is talking about. You can put your worries to rest .

FYI..............there has been a tradgedy in Port-au Prince. The school "La Promesse" in the "Nerettes" neighborhood has collapsed while class was in process!! There are at least 30 young people dead and many are still beneath the rubble.

Actually the opposite "High self esteem"...............
What They going to solve with this dumb summit, absolutely nothing you guys will always be the lame duck, I read recently that Haitian goverment reject help from Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico for your own needy people, Mr. Antonioj to me these are the acts that separate
Haitians from being civilized and to have common sense. How you as an Haitian can justify that your own goverment instead of helping the needy try to behave like a nordic country or first world civilization, eventually your goverment will continue to look for pity and get the international community attention, to me this is pathetic, mediocre and unaceptable, show me that I'm wrong and will apologize to you like a gentleman right away.

Funny
I didn't see Ruby post anything about the Dominicans that were stranded at sea and what they had to do to survive?
Ruby we Haitians are not so different that you.Still the same need to leave our country and enter another one illegally.
We are leaving Haiti to enter the Dom rep and you are leaving the Dom Rep for P. Rico and Miami.
Same sad story.

A minor issue here is that I don't see Dominicans in PR making things up the way Haitians do
in DR, Dominicans in PR try to be humble while Haitians in DR have the arrogant attitude that they are entitled to our resourses, institutions, constitution and our land.
Sonia Pierre recently started again the same annoying, tiresome and clueless campaign against Dominican Republic so countries like Canada, US and France start pointing fingers again, did she have the guts to explain the whole truth or just her convenient opinions.

Sigma,
It may be the same sad story, but putting race aside, there are Dominicans (myself included) that actually have a problem with Dominicans having to throw themselves on boats to go to another country. A major factor contributing to this phenomenon is the inability to get decent-paying jobs in their own country - massive illegal immigration to DR is a contributing factor to this (and please don't compare to the US, since no one group is 15-20% of the population there). While the bulk of the blame lies not with the actual immigrants themselves, but with the people that hire them and the government that doesn't regulate their entrance, the extraordinary amount of pressure that goes into making sure these two parties continue their behavior does make a lot of us spectators extremely skeptical of all the parties involved (including journalists which tend to change tidbits of their stories as investigations by international NGO's into incidents continue).

This organization "Plan international of Dr and Haiti" sounds to me like a pro-Haitian group destined for the Haitian supremacists
propaganda plan to take over the rest of the island.
Fellows, this is the plan to have one island indivisible, and now the pressure will get stronger and
stronger with the Obama administration. The Haitian Fifth column journalists are the advance troops,
some of them are doing their work replying to the threads here.
Dominicanos, do not let the Haitians confuse you and play with your mind, they are using the same Stalinist propanda techniques to infiltrate, divide and conquer. That is the plan.
Rubi: keep up the good work, you are carrying the Dominican flag!

I do hear voices saying to me the following:
Make the Haitians respect the Dominican natural resources and legal border boundaries,
stop the needless tree cutting and charcoal making by the Haitian scavengers,
Turn the other cheek with the unmerciful Haitian inspired anti-Dominican propaganda in the movies
as well as international community forums.
Brace yourself to what's coming from the Haitian fifth columnists and their plan to take over the DR
along with the brain washed Obama cronies.
And on and on and on.
In reality I love Haitians, Haitian music, paintings, folklore , jon jon rice and respect Haiti's intellectual elite like the unjustly sacrificed and murdered owner of Radio Inter, Jean Dominique.
Who was silenced by the Haitian mafia that rules. Was it because he was a mulatto?

Jean Dominique was murdered because he wanted to help the country and dared to call people out.
Mulattoes are not persecuted. They run things with the elite blacks and the US embassy.
