Atlanta, (Borderfirereport.net).- United States Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of Atlanta arrested a Dominican Republic national attempting to smuggle illicit drugs into the United States recently.
Yesterday, Julio Alejandro Almonte, a 28-year-old citizen of the Dominican Republic, arrived at Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport from Santo Domingo, and was selected by CBP officers for a secondary examination.
During the examination, CBP officers discovered several wooden clothes hangers in his baggage. The wooden hangers were x-rayed and all exhibited an anomaly. Upon further examination, an estimated seven pounds of cocaine was discovered. The exact weight of the cocaine will not be determined until it is extracted from the hangers.
The cocaine and Almonte were turned over to the Clayton County Drug Task Force. Almonte is a lawful permanent resident of the United States and is pending deportation proceedings once his criminal proceedings are completed.
“This concealment method shows the extent narcotic smugglers go to try and evade detection,” said Stephen Kremer, U.S. Customs and Border Protection area port director in Atlanta. “This discovery is an excellent example of how CBP officers are preventing terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering the U.S. while also protecting the people of the U.S. from illicit drugs entering our country.”

The Dominican association of dry cleaners has filed a formal protest for this evident use of
harmless clothes hangers for evil uses.
The association repudiates clothes hanger abuse and mistreatment and energetically condones such use by unauthorized individuals looking to make a quick "buck".
Furthermore they demand the return of all clothes hangers in original intact condition, without having
gone through the humiliating dissection and introspection by the abusive custom inspectors.
Signed,
The Secretary general

Just how much cocaine can one hide in a clothes hanger. If you are going to go to jail it should at least be for something worth going to jail for.

Apparently quite a bit , but how many hangers does it take to smuggle 7 pounds?
Upon further examination, an estimated seven pounds of cocaine was discovered. The exact weight of the cocaine will not be determined until it is extracted from the hangers.

Twenty-eight years old, at his prime to fulfill his career and educational goals, a resident of the United States, and had a chance to live the American dream--all of it down the drain...dumb ass. What a waste!

Ditto!
He found out that he could NOT bribe US Customs ...the same way he bribe his way past airport security and DNCD agents at the airport in la capital.
Who is the blame for the weak link on the RD side.... the RD Gov and their leaders!
Many benefit and refuse to speak out in solidarity against drug trafficking.

What's comforting, if you are a resident of the US, is that this guy WILL go to jail.

I agree with on your last posting. This Guy forgot to say "NOPE TO DOPE, UG TO DRUGS"
Example: DR Law Enforcement can learn from this arrest in the U.S....DR Law Enforcement should arrest Criminals and send them to PRISON.
This Guy will surely pay for his crime in U.S Jails 10-20 years in a Federal Penn. lose his Permanent Residence for life, Then be deported back to the DR.
I hope this Arrest sends a message loud and clear to this young Mans chain of Criminals back in the DR.
I just hope this 28 year old when released from the Penn and deported will change his evil ways and not add more crime on the Streets of the DR.
My heart goes out to this Young Mans Parents and Family who will be forever tarnished in Public.

mrios the last part of your message is the way it used to be when there was shame in our society. ...today apart from the pain his mother feels I doubt if there is any shame attached to this or very little that was another era when collective familial shame was a deterrent to crime...today in this era I am sorry to say it counts for little

I have to believe some ware deep in side my Heart that 28 year olds Parent Loves Him and fells some thing , and when that 28 year old gets released and Deported back to the DR the Parents beats the Sh-t out him.
Children are not born bad, but elements of Good and Bad are there, it's up BOTH LOVING PARENTS RESPONSIBILITY TO RAISE THAT CHILD PROPER. They say Children are a reflection of ones PARENTS. I hope I'm wrong in this case.....Someone please correct me if I'm wrong..
I think it's safe to say what we have here is a destruction of the Family and it's values.

Gouletcolonial,
Here in the U.S it's the same all the Stud Buckets are at it. A large % of crime is drug related, criminals are under the influence of drugs when the commit these crimes or they steal, Rob and cheat in order to get Money to purchase drugs.
Money is the power behind drugs. Money is the root of all evil, or should I say the love of Money.
What we have here is Moral Decay.
Can you just imagine if these crimes were commented in Country's that execute criminals / drug users, dealers and drug smugglers in Public for curtain crimes as a deterrent, then those same Laws were then in practice in the DR. I bet a good % of the population in the DR would be gone, food would be plentiful, Jobs plentiful, opportunity, Health care, education, Low crime rates, WOW !
WAKE UP, WAKE UP OOP's There I go again, dreaming.
What a nightmare, or was it.
