Santo Domingo.- The ruling PLD and the opposition PRD parties will get RD$420.8 million this year, or 80 percent of a total RD$526 million from the budget’s allotment to fund recognized political parties.
The remaining RD$105.2 million, or 20 percent, will be for the 22 parties that obtained less than 5 percent of the votes in the last presidential elections, among them the PRSC and those newly- recognized.
Electoral Law 275-97 states that in non-electoral years such as 2009, 4 percent will be allocated in the budget, to be distributed among the recognized political parties.
It adds that 80 percent of the total will be distributed “in equal parts” among the parties that they obtained more than 5 percent of the valid votes in the previous elections.
Of the remaining 20 percent, 12 percent will also be distributed in equal parts, among the political organizations which obtained less than 5 percent of the voting and those newly recognized, if any, whereas 8 percent must be distributed in proportion to the valid votes obtained by each of the parties that obtained less than 5 percent of the votes.

The funny thing about that, is that there is no shame in they game is on the paper so you know that they are going to steal and there is nothing you can do.
so suck it up and deal with it. remember poor folks do not feel no pain on inflation, depresion or recession and any economic downturn because all they life is all the above for them so any economic disaster is ok because we are use to it. and it is the reasons why they also do what they do best steal and corruption you name.

And people still believe in political parties...democracy does not need political parties. I would prefer a system where we just vote for the people we believe are best for the job, without parties. I think that's actually more democratic than the scam we have. Of course, there should be restrictions too, they shouldn't just allow anyone to run for president or crongress, they should be qualified. That's one of the flaws I see in our system, it allows anyone to run for president or congress. Even people without education, thieves, or without the resources. That's why many see politics as a business or an easy way out of poverty.

A number of things aggravate me, day in, day out.
But this? Makes me feel like I've witnessed rape or child molesting.
And in a sense, it is.
