Cardinal says decision is 'strange'
Santo Domingo:- The head of the Catholic Church in the Dominican
Republic, Cardinal Nicólas de Jesús López Rodríguez, was the latest to
question president Leonel Fernandez’s decision to pardon and release
Baninter fraudster Vivian Lubrano de Castillo and four men convicted in
the Renove fraud case.
The Cardinal said he found the decision
“strange” when there were so many “pardonable” people still in prison
for minor offenses. He did concede however that the President must have
had his reasons.
“We know that many people are in prison for
trivialities, for silly things, so if the pardon were to be applied
correctly and justly he would have to start by pardoning all those
people who have spent a long time in prison for minor offenses”, said
the Cardinal.
López Rodríguez noted that most of the public felt
a deep sense of indignation at these pardons, although he preferred not
to include himself among this group because he understands this is not
his role.
“I prefer not to say I am indignant on a personal level; I know that the pardoned people are also our neighbors”, he said.
López Rodríguez stated that he was not aware of president Leonel Fernández’s reasons for authorizing these pardons.
The
president pardoned former Baninter executive Vivian Lubrano de
Castillo, as well as Casimiro Antonio Marte, Milciades Amaro Guzmán,
Gervacio de la Rosa and Pedro Antonio Franco Badía, convicted for their
role in the Plan Renove transport fraud scandal.
The Cardinal made his comments to journalists after celebrating Mass at Santo Domingo's Cathedral on Christmas Day.

His Holiness Dr. Gavrilo (Dožic) was Patriarch of Serbia from 1938 to 1950.
His first step was reconciliation between Synod and Governmant. Patr. Gabriel also put much effort into building a campus for students of the Orthodox Theological Faculty of Belgrade University. He continued the building of St. Sava Temple; all Serbian bishops gave large donations to this project. Also, some bishops from the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia and the Church of Bulgaria gave significent donations. He was an outspoken critic of Nazism, so he, together with St. Nikolaj, was arrested. He was first put under house arrest in the monasteries of Rakovacia and Vojlovica, and later in Dachau. After the war he was not permitted to come back until November 14, 1946. He created six new dioceses after the war and put a lot of effort into dealing with the new regime. He died on May 7, 1950. His remains are buried in Belgrade Cathedral Church together with those of Princes Miloš and Mihajlo.
Too many drinks for Holidays?
No Ustashe in Serbia, please inform yourself better, Ustashe are from Croatia.
Milo my fellow,
When I mentioned the similarities between the Cardinal LopeZ RodrigueZ, and the Ustashe--
I meant the way the CATHOLIC church was involved in political matters, and backed persecution. (droog)... Inform myself better? Milo, why did I mention the Ustase? Because they are killers, Da?
I have studied some of the greater Yugoslavian history history that's why I originally made the comparison. Get my meaning now?

Ustaša - Hrvatski revolucionarni pokret---
"Ustasa terrorists killed 500,000 Serbs, expelled 250,000 and forced 250,000 to convert to Catholicism. They murdered thousands of Jews and Gypsies.

There are not any racial differences in Dominican Republic, or there is?
Other religions have equal rights and can attend their religion celebrations, or not?
Cardinal is not using his power for personal interests, or he does?
:)
Merry Christmas and God Bless you all.
But, he's only reving up his engines.
Can't you hear the sound of the Toucanos diving and soaring, yet?
If not, just wait until the wind direction changes.

Talking about Cardinal, he can not be a political figure, he can not be a member of Military order, or he can not give his personal opinions to the press related to anything that is not related with Catholic Church.
Cardinals are just persons, but elected by the same church. Then again he did not released any prisoner for Christmas?
Here you can follow his work, and how he got promoted: http://www.catholic-hierarchy.org/bishop/blopezr.html

but I wouldn't be so hard by comparing him with Nazi Ustashas...

Milo: Since you are expert, yes, on Catholic Church chain of command. Maybe you are a polyglot, too. So check this article out, yes. Then, maybe you can be informed about the real deal. Not just what see or have "heard" in your 9 years as an immigrant in a foreign land, and culture.

If you can read these you'll see that your claims are a fallacy: "No sabes donde estas Parado"
Read Avro Manhattan's account of the events during WW2 in Yugoslavia:
New nation from old ones
The Vatican frowns on the birth of Yugoslavia - Catholic policy of penetration and disintegration - Croat Separatism and the Catholic Church - Catholic storm troopers - The Ustashi.

Please lets not judge the Cardinal in such a way.
Why do you see the speck in your brother's eye but fail to notice the beam in your own eye?
Matthew 7:3

Milos, are you employed by the Vatican? You seem to have taken this issue personally. It's really all relative..
Hear, hear! Cheworks.
What's even more baffling still is that he's a yugoslavian/croat or Serbian, and he willingly ignores facts about the "holcaust" that took place there (in his homeland), and he's espousing a church and a cause (the DR Catholic Church) that's neither Christian, nor democratic. Esos se llamaban antes Calies!
Como le llaman ahora pico-chato? G2, Jesuita,o, Opus Dei?
