SANTO DOMINGO.- Foreign minister Carlos Morales yesterday said his department will determine the status of hundreds of foreigners from Europe, United States and Central America, who reside illegally in the country.
He said there are illegal aliens of different nationalities in the Dominican Republic, not just Haitian immigrants. "Here there are many Europeans, North Americans, South Americans and we’re working in that through the directive council, to establish their status"
In another topic, Morales said the issue of bird flu is a "great cloud that does not exist" and which has had repercussions internationally.
The Foreign Relations minister, speaking before a meeting with the director of the Dominican of Industries of Association, cited as an example that last week he observed that in New York City they thought that "the world was coming to an end" here, which he had to deny in several media.

Morales should concentrate on the largest group and the only one that is a demographic threat instead of playing games!
Haitian immigration is the only significant immigration and should be dealt with ASAP!

Pepe32, can you leave the ghetto of usa and see the real DR....There are alot of peruvians, ecuadorians and colombians here that are illegal..I wont even mention the n. americans and europeans but they are what you admire thus I won't mention them. Matter of fact why don't you dominicans come back home and work for menials jobs to replace these damn haitians you despise so much. Think people.

JabaoHaitian, you are right on with your last comment. The same happens in almost every country.Locals want low construction prices but locals don't want to work at construction, yet they complain about illegal inmigrants. Many economies would not survive or wouldn't be competitive if it weren't because of illegal immigration. It kind of creates a balance. Anyways, it's a hard issue to deal with.

Sorry Jabaito I am not even close to one of your ghettos ,never have been.
I travel to DR several times a year and my parents live there ....besides my passport and my DOMINICAN citizenship gives me every right to voice my opinion and my opinion is that all those other groups are minuscule and that it does not make any sense to make a big deal about a small insignificant group when the largest ,most negative and most dangerous group has not been dealt with.
I am Dominican and have EVERY right to determine what happens in my country and definitely no foreigner (least of all a Haitian) can tell us what we can or cannot do especially when your interests are those of Haiti and not DR.

I typical manner jabaito makes assumptions but the reality is that NO NATION on the face of the earth would be happy with a "pacific invasion" of illegals that are almost 11% of our population .Add to this a historical enmity and anyone with half a brain would know why we are upset.

To Pepe32: agree with You 100% dear brother, They want to impose their will and determination on the basis of race.
The goverment is being very diplomatic and helpful, the irony that few people know worldwide is that Haitians get a different treatment than all the foreigners in DR, to give You an example The colleges that They are attending in DR, They are paying less that even Dominicans and other foreigners.
Is this acceptable or not, let's see about the future to come when they finish their time how grateful they might or might not be.
This kind of bad news "They" don't publish or acknowledge because it will be against their agenda or propaganda so the rest of the planet look at us like the "Punishers" and they "the Victims"

Pepe32,
Listen ok can you explain to me how haitians are a danger to the DR. Ok you haven't lived in the ghetto and hold a usa passport and you parents have retired back home which they've probably worked hard for. Now why would you oppose the same for haitians in search of an opportunity in the DR. Not a good place looking for if dominicans themselves want out. Sad reality but hey such is life. Besides, I am haitian and I too have dominican citizenship..so I have as much right as you..besides, I have property there.. JR, haitians paying less than dominicans..Are you serious? Sad thing is you are dominican but know nothing about the DR. Leave it to those that have investment and what a better place rather sucking off USA resources then bashing haitians that work hard to have everything they have in the DR..

1.Any nation that is has close to 2 million ILLEGAL citizens in my country is a threat. We are only 7 to 8 million people.
2.My parents immigrated to the US LEGALLY,they did not violate US sovereignty to enter like a thief in the night through the window. They waited close to 5 years so please don't compare with people who were not invited and have no right to enter and violate my country's' sovereignty .
3. The very fact that DR is poor makes it worse to admit close to 2 million illegals who overburden our already poor infrastructure.
4. You are not the same as I am ,I am a true Dominican ,besides your Haitian constitution does not admit dual citizenship .I am 100% Dominican for generations and you can't just cross the border and tell me that you have more to say than a real Dominican.
5.I have property ,Business and land in DR and a Patriotic duty to defend my country, you no matter what you say are a foreigner at best and a fifth column at worst .
You assume that I know

Pepe32, Ok you're parents immigrated legally. Good for you, I guess you look down at the many illegal dominicans in the USA that came by any means and the minority that work hard abide by the law are thieves in the night, according to you. I moved to the DR LEGALLY and have contributed to this economy without remesas from abroad. If you want to defend your parents country then bring yourself down here and do so. I would love to see you impose your arrogance to haitians that are legal. The fact is haitian dominicans are part of your society and you better get use to it. All we need is creole to be implemented more just like hispanics have done to the USA. Press one for creole. You my friend are american of dominican descent. Claiming Spain as your motherland is laughable. You would feel out of place like a muslim in Sunday mass. You appear a bet more level headed due to your birth in the USA but still suffer from inferior complex. ARen't you latino in the usa?

I can't understand you. In every article in this forum Re: Hatians you have a bad opinion towards dominicans, you also think or want people to think that all dominicans in the usa are uneducated and are living in the ghettos. You should know that the immigrants with the most students in universities in the NY area are dominican. I hope that you stop being so envious toward dominicans and worry about your own country.
Re: this article
I agree with Pepe32. I have nothing against hatians and I'm not a racist like mr. jabao will like people to think of dominicans, but everybody has to understand that the dominican republic is a poor country with alot of poor people and cannot sustain any more poor people.
From: Haiti
Jperez, please don't feel offended. I know that not all dominicans are delinquents in the USA just as haitians arent all poor and illegal in the RD. My post are response to dominicans that have the audacity to want haitians out of the DR when they are in the hot seat in other countries demanding the same rights haitians in RD. The DR is a poor country yes indeed but most haitains don't have public assistance like many of dominicans in the USA/PR to help them and still find a way to make a decent living with all of the obstacles. You dont see the irony in most of these post. What world are we living in. Obviously you too have decided to read into want you want in my post without realizing that I am replying to absurdities from dominicans immigrants in foreign land. Most of my writings are facts and also with a bit of humour to show you how foolish many are here. This isn't about bashing dominicans rather putting the mirror in front of you and many still can't see.

Everything about HaitianJabao is el barrio, ghetto, why you live in the usa, why to care about DR so much, you are not educated like me and You have to believe and accept what I say because im better than everybody else.
I truly believe Sir that You have a "Low Self personality " problem and I never see anybody or myself debating what you are or have.
Anyway if that make you happy............good for you

Jabaito, I am not of Dominican parents I am Dominican born and love my country ,my culture and my language but no matter what you say I am Dominican and you are not so you can take your gourds across the border and invest in your "haiti cherie" ....don't worry our economy will not collapse because of your miserable gourds and I will not have to continue to hear about how "terrible" we Dominicans are with haitians.
