Amable Aristy: What, me worry?
Zoom Picture

SANTO DOMINGO.- The three major parties’ presidential candidates reacted of the Greenberg-Diario Libre survey’s results as expected, with Leonel Fernandez, who headed the poll with 47 percent, affirming it assures a first round win.

Miguel Vargas, of the opposition PRD party, said he prefers to use his own surveys because they provide data different to Greenberg’s, which place him at 34 percent.

The least concerned appears to be Amable Aristy, even when the survey assigns him just 10 percent.

"The numerologists, astrologers, fortune-tellers and dreamers of the PLD and the PRD-PPH will see their prognoses collapse when the vote-count begins.” Aristy was referring to former president Hipolito Mejia’s influence in the opposition party with his Presidential Project Hipolito faction.

In today’s edition, the survey found that the minority candidates Eduardo Estrella has 2 percent, and Pedro de Jesus Candelier 1 percent.

The only polls that will count will be the ones on May 16 th.

Hillary Clinton was suppose to walk away with the Democratic nomination. Now she is barely hanging in. John McCain was almost a goner in the summer, out of money and had to reshuffle his campaign staff. Now he is about to clinch the Republican nomination.

Yogi Bera said "It ain't over 'til it's over"

PS

With a little weight Amable could be confused for Yogi!

One should reflect on the ambivalence of theDominican electorate.
They change thier mind and leanings with the "winds of time".
Only when the final votes are cast will we know who the"winner" actually is.
I haven't seen a poll yet that has been accurate in it's prognosis of a winner.
All depends on the questions asked, with the clarity of those questions and with the interpretations by the respondants.
In an Educated society the answers would be valid, but in this society with it's deficiency in education, it's anyone's guess.

If I remember correctly, they poled 1,200 people and determined that hey had a representative sample of the Dominican population!! Now, depending on where I place myself in the Island and how many "pesos" I am holding in my hand, I bet you that I could even make it look like even "Texas Bill" is going to win the elections!! (I think he should run for President anyway)!!

Education is the key word here. We are looking at a population that is hungry, broke, hopeless and not too educated--no wonder they would vote for whomever throws them the most pesos or chickens.

We need to do a lot of work, before we can actually have, what could be considered, a "Democratic Government".
