SANTO DOMINGO. – Two of the Dominican Republic’s most feisty and respected women are on the verge of a heated battle over reports of a posh summer villa in the country’s Central Mountain Range.

Education minister Alejandrina German –dubbed the “Iron Lady” for her confrontations with former president Hipolito Mejia- today challenged the famed television producer Nuria Piera -who had also confronted the former chief executive- to publicly retract within 72 hours her allegation on the residence she’s building in Jarabacoa, or face charges of slander.

The official, one of only three women members of the ruling PLD party’s elite Political Committee, said the house is worth RD$5 million and that it figures in her husband’s sworn financial statement of 2004. She said to build the 4-story house, begun at the end of 2002, her husband, the deputy Jose Maria Sosa, took out a RD$1.3 million loan.

German also said the two vehicles Piera shows in her TV program don’t have anything to do with the Education Ministry, affirming they are owned by the contractors who build the house.

She also offered to sell the house to Piera for six million pesos "just a bit more than what’s been invested, because of the sacrifice which the construction has entailed which has taken more than five years and hasn’t been finished yet. So we offer Ms. Piera the possibility of negotiating the "mansion" for the price that she attributes to it, which will allow her to make at least 40 million pesos."

German said her action is personal and formulates it neither as Minister of Education nor as political leader, adding that her husband bought the 200 tareas of land in 1997, at a price of RD$300,000. The lot is located some 15 kilometers west of Jarabacoa, near the village Jumunuco.

Nuria, you should buy the property for $6MM pesos and call Alejandrina´s bluff. You know there are many who will gladly loan you the money, in the event you don´t have it on hand. Not a bad price for an ESTATE-FINCA of 200 tareas, in the Jarabacoa area. If it were offered to me, I would jump at the offer.

This how it works, as a previous case in which US Senator Obama "presidential hopeful" was accused off with federally prosecuted Tony Resco at Chicago, IL and many others that I don‘t recall now. If you want to exchange bribes with officials, the safest model is to buy a property at certain market values, and give it away to your partner in crime, to a much lesser value “normally 50% or more of a lesser value”. Nuria needs to investigate who was the previous owner of the land, easy to do at the “Lands Courts”, and she would get to the bottom of who is behind with this lady, ripping off the “Secretary of Education”. This is how many corrupt officials do their thing today, Unfortunately there's no law that penalize this type of business transaction at DR. But is up to the population to make their call.

Go Nuria Piera! DR needs journalists like her to keep corrupt politicians at bay. Lets not forget that she took on Christina (univision) a few years back and won. You don't see as much fake loud, chusma (ghetto) Dominicans on Christina anymore after Nuria called for a boycott of Christina's show.

Nuria is a fraud and a racist, she is anti American and rarely reports on the cases of GRINGOS who have been crime victims in the DR. I have been trying to get her to investigate my case for 5 years, after sending numerous e-mails and faxes, Nuria has never contacted me.

My ($100,000 USD) house in Santo Domingo was swindled from me in 2004. Fraudulent loans and forged sales contracts were used by Faustino Palmas Garcia to steal the house. After 2 trials and thousands of dollars in legal fees, the corrupt (bribe taking) Santo Domingo courts acquitted Mr. Palmas.

Nuria is nothing more than a cheap publicity seeking Diva. She travels to New York often and enjoys our freedoms but when an American needs her help, she shows her true colors
