SANTO DOMINGO.- The doctors grouped in CMD called a 24-hour strike in the hospitals public for Thursday, to demand a wage increase, improved pensions and other grievances.

However Dr. Waldo Suero said the CMD is open to talks and to reach an agreement with the Public Health authorities. He said the call to strike is a response to the Government, which hasn’t proposed any solution to their union’s demands. "On the contrary, they’ve sent our demands to a commission of lower hierarchy officials, which evidence that the minister wasn’t sincere in his proposal and what he sought was to buy time."

He said the doctors will only attend emergencies and patients in critical state.

laugh out loud, that is one of the mayor thing that the government need to deal with, but hey what the **** does he care about public healgh. is like i said before is ambarrasse, that on the stage of life we on the dr still having that kind of problem with the hopitl, he and his family had what they need to survive. i bet that they have medical care ensuren on the unite state just for their regular visiting. oh leoner you should feel awful dion waht you are doing to your own country. but is easy to understand, what you want, just looking around who your friends are, we should be scare of giving youa secon change fidel and chavez.

They go on strike it Canada dont worry,

It will get settled and they will get more money.. thats how life is man!

be glad you have health care..

It is pathetic that these doctors knowing the condition and situation of the DR have the guts to do this just to get more money. Is not like they aren't already filthy rich in comparison to the rest of the nation's wages. Now, the poor souls that need health care will have to pay higher fees just so that these doctors can afford a third BMW or Benz.

Just remember, don't get sick tomorrow or you're screwed. The rest will be fine, they'll get their wages increased and they'll be able to buy both the new land cruiser and the iphone.

These guys are not rich.. maybe in your little mind..
just because a guys has a nice vehicle ..with I am sure a nice loan on it .. doesn't make him rich

get off your ass get a job .. a loan .. and a new car ..then you will be rich wow!

If your so smart become a doctor and become rich as you say!
after you have educated yourself ..you will see they are not rich !

Wow tfiske, what on earth is your problem man?!? You talk like a caveman or as if you were on payroll by one of these doctors... did you put any thought into what you just said or you just pulled it right out of your rear-end without any consideration? You're pathetic... readers, please take a good look at my comment and then see Mr. tfiske's reply and let us know who you think needs the education... which, by the way Mr. tfiske, I'm not a physician, but I do have a phd.

People in the USA are scared to get sick.. the price would kill them! Call me a caveman.. This is so simple even a cave man can get it !
I not on payroll ,just want a happy doctor operating on me .. I play golf with lots of doctors in Canada.. you probably think they are rich ..most make above average income and should!
thats it!
They have stress and same problems as everybody else in life! wake up.. you are the cave man!
don't get sick and need surgery this week..
Hope the strike ends soon and the cost to the people is minimal
