SANTO DOMINGO.- Christian Social Reform Party (PRSC) candidate Amable Aristy was in Puerto Rico yesterday reaching out to Dominicans living illegally there and speaking on a San Juan radio program about the problem of illegal migration from the Dominican Republic to Puerto Rico, newspaper Diario Libre said.

Aristy said lack of employment opportunities in the Dominican Republic and indifference to the problem on the part of government were the fundamental reasons for the clandestine migrations. “The problem is that many young people, among them women, cannot find work, so risking the trip across the Caribbean Sea in a yola in search of a better life begins to look like an option,” he said.

Aristy said a PRSC government would provide incentives to small and medium-sized businesses to better compete in their sectors and create more jobs. He said the Dominican Republic’s unemployment rate had increased under Leonel Fernandez, leading to a greater number of illegal trips.

He also said he is counting on 31 percent support from the electorate, and that the “true surveys” position him in second place behind Fernandez and the Dominican Liberation Party.

I wonder how many Dominicans live in the PR legally and illegally?

The failed capitalist economy in the DR drives starving workers into the sea in search of food and jobs.

"Provide incentives to small and medium-sized businesses," the petty bourgeois promises the petty bourgeoisie, not the big capitalists, a juicy handout.

"He is counting on 31 percent support from the electorate, and that the 'true surveys' position him in second place behind Fernandez ," the petty bourgeois brags. If these number are true, this is impressive. I wonder who does his polling. The lying Gallup Organization does some of the PRD's polling and Jake Greenberg does some of PLD's polling. This guy, Aristy, is mysterious and cagey about his pollster. Since Aristy calls himself a Christian and a social reformer, he surely wouldn't lie about his numbers.

What Belial categoricaly fails to mention is the failed Communist Economy in Cuba and where speaking out about ANYTHING that is "ANTI-GOVERNMENT" is rewarded with an extensive prison sentence at hard labor. He fails to mention the thousands of Cubans who escape this violation of the "freedom of speech" that is denied Cuban Citizens on a daily basis and flee in ramshackle boats, and where these citizens are not allowed into the "Tourist" zones on the North Coast under penalty of imprisionment. He doesn't speak of a country where the economy is also in shambles and the people living in poverty because of the lack of adequate opportunities and items for sale at elevated prices to the inhabitants of that beautiful island. He doesn't reflect on the fact that the only thing keeping Venezuela afloat is their petroleum deposit, the international market price of that product, and the fact that Chavez certainly takes advantage of the "Capitalist System" responsible.
He is the voice of Gloom.

There can be no other adequate description of Belial's personality and character. Instead of offering solutions to the economic and political conumdrums facing nations, he decries everything in a frustrated and vitriolic voice which has no substance of logic nor common sense.
His commentaries, thus far, have all been of the same vein. He seems to have no other capabilities except to plagarize the writings of Marx, Ingel, Lenin and Hegel, while not giving them credit for his pronouncements.
How can we, as thinking and rational individuals, give any credence to therantings of such a person?
We really can't.

It's not only Dominicans, but what about the hatians cubans and mexicans, that go to DR. Not to mention that PR is in economic disaray why is he talking so bad about DR when PR is equally as bad. The only reason people want to go to PR is for citizenship. The economy over there isn't any better.

The socialist economy of Cuba has given the Cuban people the highest standard of living in Latin America and Caribbean if one uses education, health care, housing, and nutrition as indicators for living standards in the region.

Not even the lying cappie press and its parrots deny Cuba's lead in education and health care.

Any inquiry into comparative performance in housing and nutrition in the Latin America and Caribbean establishes that Cuba also leads the Latin America and Caribean in housing and nutrition although it's lead is not as commanding as its lead in education and health care.

I will have to see for myself, Belial, since your reputation is VERY SUSPECT as to telling the truth about anything.
I have seen a lot of braggadocio rhetoric from you regarding Cuban and other Socialist countries accomplishments, but very little substance, particularily in the realm of human rights and political freedom.

"did he go by yola?"

It's safer coming back, than going by yola.

It would be a shame or, more correctly, a tragedy if 31 percent of the electorate lost their candidate who ranks, he says, number two after Leonel, in the deep blue passage.

I doubt if the fish, there, get a lot of Christian social reformers for supper.

The fish may refuse to touch him if he wears the same necktie on his return.

GC, since your life cycle is from the trash can to the landfill and, mysteriously, from the landfill back to the trash can, doing which phase of the cycle are you properly called refuse?

That’s what I heard too.

He probably bought the Visa during the period of time that there wasn’t an Ambassador around 06-07.

Some of you should take a class on ethics in regards to exploring different ideas.

Regarding Aristy's ideas, I wonder if he has a systematic plan in facing unemployment in the D.R.

You were almost on target this time, mr. unperceptive, the only difference being that Aristy got back his visa by a call that his personal friend Chancellor Morales did to your embassy. I can only imagine your embarrassment, seeing as how someone who have made himself rich with the exploitation of your proteges had only to put a word on your embassy to get the visa of a friend back. How can you explain this contradiction between the things that the gov. of your country proclaims (proclamations against racism in nightclubs and poverty of the bateyes) and what they end up doing (granting favors to people that are, precisely, responsible for those aforementioned evils)? Would you be so kind to enlighten me as to the reason of this? (I apologize in advance if I may have offended your sensibilities mr. Bill, seeing as how your patriotism is one of the virtues that I admire from you, but I couldn't pass the opportunity to slap this thing on this guy's face, as petty as it may sound).

There are many illegal dominican immigrants in PR which is the largest on the island. Many have left because they are in search of work & opportunity. They face discrimination, racism but are better off than DR. The puerto ricans despite there condescending sentiments of dominicans still allow the dominican community to live in some what peace. If one doesn't think PR as better off than the DR than one hasn't ever traveled to PR. It's ashame that many dominicans risk there lives on yolas but many know that once they make it to the island they will be better off and eventually obtain papers fly to the mainland. What's Aristy trying to prove here? Dominicans have been taking yolas way b4 Fernandez and should not be blamed solely for dominicans wanting a better life.

I'm 100% certain that Aristy returned VISA has to do with a "Cuban national" roaming the embassy for quite some time. This Cuban as my understanding, it was/is the link between the embassy and DR's officials. He is a deceiving and manipulative character no good for US true interest. He should be Ambassador Fannin first removal from the Embassy properties.

Its time for this CUBAN to "Go"

As I heard !!!!
