Santo Domingo.- The Santo Domingo Metro today underwent another test run along the 17- kilometer-long route from Villa Mella in the north to the La Feria station in front of the Government offices, with some 300 invited passengers.

After the ride, Transit Office (Opret) director Diandino Peña said the subway underwent its most rigorous test run on that type of system to date. “The wagons ran as expected and the foreign technicians will render a report to president (Leonel) Fernandez before the 27th of February,” date on which the chief executive said he would take the inaugural run.

In that regard, Madrid Metro executive Manuel Lamena said the train was subjected to the standards of that city’s mass transit system, which he said “is the best in the world.”

It's just a natural transition to the technology available in many countries. A growing city needs this type of transportation artery in order to aleviate the demands of population growth, which brings about more transportation demands.

hit it japan tell this brainless persons that a metro brings grought to the city where it operates. let say if ny,chicago,la,wdc.london, tokyo, berlin, moscu and many other major cities didn't have a subway transportation system what would it happen. chaos for sure. santo domingo has about 3.5 millons living and working in it. the metro cost a lot of money to bill so it cost anything of that size.

Next stop Los Alcarizo and San Luis. san isidro. and one more thing perception will not be riding it.
