Santo Domingo-The National District City Council conducts an intensive program of lighting in Santo Domingo’s Malecon since Monday, replacing hundreds of burned bulbs and hundreds of feet of power lines which had been stolen.
Also repaired and replaced were new lamps and posts damaged by the salt spray in the span from Maximo Gomez avenue to 19 de Marzo street.
Though provisional, for not being part of its program to rebuild the seaside avenue, these works are the first stage aimed at completely improving that section with new lighting to mark February 27, the country’s Independence.
Crews of the City Council accompanied by workers of the Electricity of the East Distributor (Edeeste) are working three shifts to conclude the work tomorrow.
