SANTO DOMINGO. - The Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez today called opposition PRD party president Ramon Alburquerque "insolent, thoughtless and foulmouthed," after the political leader accused him of being the “spokesman” for president Leonel Fernandez’s re-election bid.
At first the prelate said he didn’t want to speak but on insistence of reporters to respond leader’s PRD, said “this is a very, very small country where we all know each other."
"Here everybody knows that gentleman; who he is, his lifestyle, how he behaves with his insolence,” the Cardinal said, and repeated the descriptions.
In another topic, Lopez Rodriguez asked Dominicans, mainly those who go from the cities to recreation areas, to keep safety and prudence in mind and not to consume alcohol to prevent loss of lives.

I think that a cardinal commenting on the political process in the country he is serving the holy see in is more than insolent.

More than an insolence, mr. cibaeño, it's a tragedy. It's a tragedy in the sense that it shows the utter ignorance of our country, which allows itself to be ruled by these hypocritical and fanatical fools.

I think it's time the DR adds "Separation of Church and State" to the constitution!

The Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez, a Catholic expert on divne beings, apparently got a "little check" and now shows his infinite gratitude to the PLD.
After all, doesn't the Concordat, signed in 1954 during Rafael Trujillo’s dictatorship (1930-1961), guarantees funds for the Catholic Church and recognizes it as the State religion.

Does anyone have any experience in filling a formal complaint with the Pope at the Vatican.
Allegedly this current Pope is very conservative and chastises the involvement of the clergy in political matters.
Certainly I am not opposed to the "cardinal " exercising his freedom of speech. He has every right to do that as a free citizen, but as a religious leader who allegedly tends to the spiritual needs of all Dominicans of the Catholic faith he should be impartial.
The last time I looked, all the Catholics in DR were not exclusively members of the PLD. As a matter of fact I dare say the majority of Catholics are not members of the PLD.
Therefore, he should maintain neutrality in political preference and not be a megaphone for the reelection of Lio-nel Fernadez!

The pope expects you to grovel as if you were talking to God.
I DON'T BELIEVE HE LIKES MY COMMENTS, BUT YOU MAY DO BETTER.
To me, the pope is just a CIA agent.

One reason why Lopez Rodriguez is so partisan is that when he had his triple bypass surgery last January, Leonel took time out and dropped by the divine's hospital room to cheer him up before the knife went in.
The big wheels in the PRD only sent cards, flowers, and fruit.
Lopez Rodriguez swore he would get PRD for its insolence.
The PRD prayed that Lopez Rodriguez would never get off the table.

Why doesn't the "Honorable" Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez speak out regarding this injustice to one of God's children in Lie-onel Fernadez's METROLANDIA.
Apparently the mother of the child is not on the "little" payroll cardinal!

Again, I remind you that while the whole country was cowering under Hipolito Mejia's intimidation, Lopez was one of only a hanful of Dominicans who dared defy him.

Amen, Edward. Religion and politics just do not mix.
The Cardinal is among the most ignorant and hateful "officials" in the DR.
It's hard to respect somebody who has made their life's vocation telling others what happens to them after they die. Unfortunately, the DR is so superstitious they'll never smack this guy like they should. That would make Jesus mad.
