Come one, come all but the minority parties...
Zoom Picture

SANTO DOMINGO.- The three major parties’ presidential candidates will, in separate appearances, “debate” their proposals against government corruption and initiatives to clean up public office.

Institutionalism and Justice Foundation Fingus vice president Servio Tulio Castaños said Leonel Fernandez, Miguel Vargas and Amable Aristy will speak before civil society organizations in an event which will aso be televised nationwide.

He said the Finjus-sponsored event "sets out to create the conditions so the candidates to the Presidency of the Republic of the three majority parties share with the organizations the proposals contained in their plans of government to confront and to fight corruption."

Confused? Allow me to clear up your confusion. We will have the opportunity to hear all three main candidates babble about all the things that they know they should do, which we know that they will never do. No matter who wins, it will always be BUSINESS AS USUAL here. There is a better chance of a US hockey team moving here, than there is of anything ever being done about corruption. Got it now?

A debate is between two or more individuals. Carrying on by yourself in front of an audience is not a debate. What a joke.

my sentiments exactly, cibaeno. i have never, in all my many years on earth, heard of a one-person DEBATE! we are truly trend setters in this country!

What would they possibly debate? None of the three major candidates have any ideas or positions. How could they? There are no issues driving this election - just mudslinging.

Sadly Mike, London this time of year is nothing but cold, rain and all encompassing mist that can make any mans bones shiver. I now know, why there are so many great economist from this country and that’s because with so little sun light in the winter time there’s nothing better to do than to get drunk and talk economics lol. Back to the article only in the DR can you have a debate by yourself (sight).

our thoughts and good wishes are with you Frank. at least you have incentive to speed up the process in order to terminate as soon as possible. in the meanwile, just go have yourself a pint of lager and some shepherd's pie. that will fix you!! as to the idea of one -man debates: do you ever wonder if anyone is embarrassed to make these statements, or if they have so much contempt for the larger society that they don't really care how it appears?

Mike, if I maybe anecdotal for a second ,there is truly “no shame in their game” the only differences between the PRD and PLD is that one tends to be more provincial(PRD) minded in terms of allocation of resources and the other more urban (PLD). They are along with every other institution in the DR are corrupt to the core. In the end it really doesn’t matter what they say(Maldonado and Leonel)but who they grease once they get to a position of power.
Ps London may not be my cup of tea literally lol but the research I’m doing is truly amazing, LSE has surpassed my expectations in every conceivable way now my job(Broker for RBS) is another matter completely.
On another note;I must say,ur truly a brave individual, lol trying to introduce ceteris paribus in this web site what next post hoc or better yet fallacies of compositions lol. I tried the same on this topic http://www.dominicantoday.com/dr/....-a-lie-Electoral-court-chief-says

Frank, i have not read the entire article, but you introduced such delicious economic terminology it makes me want to dust off the old textbooks ( 'deadweight loss" among them!). incidentally, i am glad i introduced the term ceteris paribus, because it opened up a clear channel of communication between myself and saturn: now we can put aside the hostilities and relate to each other along more civil lines. aint economics great?
