Santo Domingo.- The U.S. company Marine Exploration Inc. (Mexp) will pay US$3,000 for every month the remains in the Atlantic coast in search of a US$150 million treasure submerged with a 17th century Spanish galleon, of which they’ll share half with the Dominican Government, said Mexp in its Web site.

Mexp said the Dominican Government, via the Navy, is committed to guarantee security if the treasure is found using its boat the Ocean Lady.

The search headed by the explorer and "treasure hunter" Burt Webber will last around five months in Dominican waters 100 kilometers north of Puerto Plata, at a cost of more than two million dollars.

In 1978 Webber found near the Dominican Atlantic coast the remains of the galleon Nuestra Señora de la Concepcion, which sank during a hurricane in 1641, as it headed to Spain.
