President Fernandez, who spoke with farmers yesterday, contacted the three leaders in the conflict.

Lio-nel Fernandez can not solve the simple education needs of the Dominican people and now he wants to be Henry Kissinger!

Education is NOT simple. Electric is and he hasn't done a damn thing about that in 7 years. I doubt that he has the ability to wipe his own arse to tell you the truth without building a monument of it and getting some foreign country to design a machine that would do it for him at the country's expense!:)

I hope that LF will be able to play a role in solving this problem. He has invested a lt of resources in projecting the DR into the international arena.
This would be another big win for the president, if it seems he help de-escalate the situation.
That and the Metro would propell him further.
But then again, how much do Dominicans care about Foreign policy? this is an open questions, not trying to be sarcastic. I'll ask around and let you know.

Right on all three points.
(1) A big win that fell into his lap. He didn't go out and look for it.
(2) Rio and Metro make him unstoppable.
(3) Many Dominicans are obsessed with foreign policy if the policy relates to US imperialists. Many Dominicans believe that their rightful masters are US imperialists; so, the relation between the US imperialists and Dominicans is a domestic one, not a matter of foreign policy.
Leonel ... with Rio, Petrocaribe, perhaps ALBA and other efforts ... has tried to implant in Dominicans a sense of national identity that is not derivative from the subordinate Dominican relation with the US imperialists.

I can't believe you really believe that any of the other candidates can do anything about education better than Leonel can. He's the only president that has moved our country forward without destroying our economy like HIPPO and the PRD did.

Why not listen to fernandex . Did he not fix the electric problem 10 years ago? Every time he opens his mouth out comes another lie! Anyone would be better than fernadex! Even a Haitian for president would be better.

JRRubirosa - as usual, your comments are blinded with hate. The other posters are just simply stating a widely held notion that LF lies and has ben only capable of pursuing his pet projects while leaving more "important" (important for the public) problems off his radar.
But this article is not about that or haitian-dominican issues... can't you (JRRubirosa) move on?

They can't even show an example of being educated people................
Haitians believe that They have a right to express their jungle voice on everything good for Dominican Republic.
I read on "the Wall street Journal" lots of good comments regarding the good Job that Leonel Fernandez did it on this summit.
Why allow these creepy people voice non sense opinions when They have a piece of "Dysfunctional country"
