SANTO DOMINGO.- Armed Forces minister Ramon Aquino yesterday said at this time "everything is under control" in the Dominican-Haitian border
The official said the Dominican authorities have taken all precautions to face any emergency in the border, after food shortages and high prices spurred street protests in Haiti.
Aquino said despite the tension that affects the neighboring nation the same number of troops remain, and reinforced before the disturbances, though remain on the alert. "Our borders are under control. We took measures before. Everything is calm in the border."
The Armed Forces chief, who spoke with reporters after attending a mass in the Cathedral of America to mark the Navy’s 164th anniversary, said so far the activities in the zone are normal.

"Sarcastic" with our country.
I don't have stomach to stand this behavior, Do you???
Agree with you regarding the people but then He is supported by his "Gang"
All quite on the Western Front ?
The Dominican Republic would have been a better nation without that problematic country next to us. Constant conficts, massive deforestation, ETC, ETC, .... that's Haiti, who needs that?
There would not be any DR without the Haitian revolution GOOD OR BAD, LIKE IT OR NOT.
Anyone(Dominican) who wishes that HAITI did not exist is IGNORANT of History.
Quite strong statement................
Also you might consider asking how much money does trade with Haiti represent in the Dominican economy.
If it wasn't for the Haitian revolution, you may be speaking FRENCH. You don't have to accept that theory.
By the way, The DR is a beautiful country. Not everyone who makes a comment is ANTI-DR.
My post was really directed at the individual who wishes that Haiti did not exist as IF the DR came out "thin air"
My 2 centavos!!!
You're educated enough to comprehend what you read. I never said that the DR benefited from the Haitian Revolution. You did.
Many of your compatriots live in Haiti and enjoy peace and prosperity.
I never alluded to any immigration issues. I know the situation quite clearly.
By the way, I've helped hundreds of Dominican families with humanitarian assistance here in the US.
You're barking up the wrong tree.
No one wants to talk about the good that some haitians do in DR society. I can write for DAYS about the BAD that Dominican immigrants bring all over, but that would be just plain bias, wouldn't it?
I know the Dominican community very very well_ in the US and DR.
Once again, all of you are barking up the wrong tree.
