As all religions of our world, this one is yet another pacifier for the ignorants. It seems that people don't study the origens of religions and how they came to dominate human thoughts throughout history. If peolpe were to concentrate more on the things that are affecting their lives and keeping them back , they will bury all the religiions which are in D.R. True freedom of thoughts is the liberation of the mind from the shackles of religion and politics which go hand in hand. These two doses are given to people everyday and reenforce over and over through the different medias of communications.

Hectorvargas, before criticizing people as being ignorant, it would be helpful to run spellcheck on your post.
Further, your definition of "true freedom" implies a moral absolute, one in which you obviously are trying hard to tear down.
I'm not so sure you have the freedom that you proudly boast about. It seems you are held captive by the limitations of your own thoughts.

hectovargas....I hope you learned your lesson about freedom of expression....dont make me sick ghale on you again

Magic underwear?

LOL. Now I get it. I've heard about those. Some people say that they use it on special ceremonies done on the temple on the picture, such as baptisms, marriages, etc.

Mr. Lautaro, I’m no atheist, but this sort of stuff just makes me wonder(if i'm in the wrong camp); on a related note, I just finished reading Richard Dawkins “The God Delusion”. I personally, don’t agree with most(and I do stress “most”, because I do believe in evolution)of his ideas, but his book is definitely a must read.

Mormons one of the best thing that could happen to the Dominican Republic, they're good people with good hearts. And are always willing to help others in need when most won't.

My husband and I returned from the DR after living there for 20 months as missionaries for the "Mormon" church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints). It was a wonderful experience coming to know the culture and the people. We were surprised at the wide variety of religions there, since we had assumed that it was predominately Catholic. While we worked primarily with members of our own church, we came to be friends with people of all kinds. Never did we feel like they were worth less because of how they believed.
In my opinion, those who are so narrow in their thinking as to criticize and put down one religion or all, are as unChristian as they come. If one group works for the betterment of a few or the whole, then isn't that cause for gratitude rather than rancor? The only way to peace in this world is to work together regardless of our personal beliefs.

I grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (a Mormon) in Las Vegas NV. I learned quickly that all the people of the world will be so much happier if they will follow Jesus Christ. I was very fortunate to be assigned by the Church to be a missionary in the Dominican Republic from 1996 to 1998. The Mormons are really just trying to follow Jesus Christ and to help others to do the same. I believe that the Church is so successful in the Dominican Republic because the Dominican people, in general, really want to follow Jesus Christ. Congratulations on this exciting landmark!

It's laughable when people make derogatory comments about Mormons' "funny underwear." Would they make those comments about Islamic women with their hijabs, Sikh men with turbans, Catholic nuns in their habits, the Amish with their 16th-Century style clothing, or Orthodox Jews with yarmulkes? How about Rastafarians with dreadlocks?

What a wonderful occasion! I had the privilege of serving an LDS mission in the DR from '95 to '97. Dominicans are delightful people with big hearts. I hope to visit the beautiful DR again someday.

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints also and have learned so much how to become more like Christ. I am still lacking a ton, but am learning! I spent a semester studying Spanish in Santiago, DR and I loved getting to know the LDS (mormon) church members there. They are so strong and are striving to become like Christ also. They were so loving and even taught us Merengue and Bachata at their chapel during the week as a mid-week activity! What a beautiful place! I hope to return.
