President Fernandez cuts the ribbon for Colonel Caamaño.
SANTO DOMINGO.- President Leonel Fernandez last night inaugurated the Santo Domingo Metro’s (subway) station number 15, with the name Colonel Francisco Alberto Caamaño Deñó, located in the Abraham Lincoln and Correa & Cidrón avenues intersection, where he said he’s proud to honor a man who fought for democracy and the Dominican nation’s freedom.
In the activity, part of the ceremonies to mark the April, 1965 Revolution’s 43rd anniversary, Caamaño’s son, Alberto Alexander, together with his family, thanked Fernandez for the gesture to dignify his father.

What an insult !
That "Lie-onel" Fernandez, a man who has destroyed everything Colonel Francisco Alberto Caamaño Deñó gave his life for, and has declared himself a Balaguerista and Vinchista is allowed to even speak the name of this HERO!
Unlike "Lie" Colonel Francisco Alberto Caamaño Deñó gave his life to defend Dr. Bosch and what he stood for. On the other hand "Lie" is dedicating his life to destroying what Dr. Bosch stood for and has constructed his government with all the Balagueristas who hate Caamaño Deñó and Dr. Bosch!
What a disgrace!

I appears that in our "so-called democracy "under the "leadership" of Lie-onel Fernandez and the PLD, if you express an opinion contrary to the party line you become an "enemy within," to quote your words.
That terminology is very similar to the classification used to label dissenters in the era of Trujillo and Balaguer which "Lie" claims to have inherited, so I see why you may feel that it is appropriate to use it!

This is a great thing to bolster our nationalism in the DR. In the last few decades the dominican people have become too concentrated on leaving the island due to the lack of social services and a vision into the future. The honoring of our most recent heroes does good to motivate our youth and give them a reason to do good for ouor ailing people. It is clear that LF recognizes the importance of the youth in the DR and how they are going to influence the future of the country if given the opportunity to do so.

If so clear why doesn't he fund education at least to the minimal level of 4% as required by the constitution and give our youth a fighting chance, to succeed in the 21st century!

Josean that is precisely why I indicated if given the opportunity to do so. I am one of the most critical person on this forum on dominican eduication and the fact that it is so underfunded. The DR's education budget is $140 million US , for about 2million students, which it comes out to about $140 per student. This si far bellow the %4 minimum that is at least required. Cuba outspend the DR by wide margins when it comes to education, but they do not waste money on unecessary projects. At the end of the day, what counts is which government recognizes priorities better and not the one that allow its people to do as they wish.

"Lie-onel" sold out long ago to the must backward economic interests in the country, who have always made their wealth by keeping the vast majority of the population either uneducated or at best undereducated.
Notice how he and the PLD have abandoned the principles and teaching of Dr. Bosch and have embraced the style and actions of Balaguer.
This is why I am so hard on him and the criminally corrupt PLD. They talks the talk about education with very sweet numbing rhetoric, but they don't walk the walk.

I agreed with 100% Josean, as I said before in many of my posting, I have been a staunch critic of the LF government in the DR for its lack of social initiatives and programs to help one of the most backward populace in the caribbean.

dag funding is not everything if we are talking backward please include St Thomas USVI the US federal gov. spends 85,000 US dollars per person on the residents of the USVI and they have still managed to produce one of the worst education systems in the caribbean and not even accredited by US standards and the previous governor was an educator....that is a disgrace and a shame...so dont look only to money to solve this problem....people resources are just as important

Josean should be banned from this website! He is a disgrace to this forum. He is the most negative and repetitive person out there, besides, it appears he is using a cover id. He is probably a frustrated political analyst from the opposition. He likes to twist all good news and make something negative out of it. Ban this man I suggest. This should be a place to exchange solutions and positive vibes among good Dominican citizens.

Mr. buenoha, you sound fairly naive about the state of things in your country. Now I am not standing up for Mr. Josea, but I am standing up for the principle of freedom of speech and the rights of people to make factual statements. I am only against when people start lying about things for personal gain. But Josean is simply stating an existing condition in the DR and your behavior simply proves the illment from which many dominicans suffer from. I reffer to this sickness as ultra-nationalism, people like you are simply blind to the atrocities and injustices that are committed against your people on a daily basis in our beloved island. To simply call for a ban of someone, who by enlarge makes concise statements and makes good points about the lack of direction and priority setting in DR is simply asinine. If we that abroad do not talk about things like these, then who will have the will power in the DR to do, when the media is controlled by the few rich?

I stick up for Josean because sometimes he says funny things and freedom of speech is very important but belial he should be banned and then executed for crimes against intelligence his repetitive drivel has no social redeeming value a painful execution would be to good for this guy who has the personality of a dial tone I say we string him up
