Santo Domingo.- For the fifth time in the current Dominican Medical Association president’s (CMD) tenure, doctors walked out of public hospitals to demand a salary increase to $RD59,000 per month.
Today doctors didn’t show up in their offices or performed surgeries, attending only emergencies, as patients couldn’t receive medical attention.
CMD president Waldo Ariel Suero threatened to radicalize the struggle of doctors in case their demands are not met.
The protest by around 14,000 doctors affected 162 Public Health and Social Security hospitals today, heeding the call for the 24 hour strike.
