Santo Domingo.– The 3rd Cuban Traveling Book Fair begins on Monday in the city of Montecristi, Dominican Republic, and will tour other seven cities in the country before it ends on May 5th.

Eleven Cuban publishing houses with more than 300 titles of different genres are taking part in this event that on this occasion is dedicated to five Cuban anti-terrorist fighters who remain imprisoned in the United States since 1998.

Artists, academics, politicians and religious people make up the Committee of Honor of this year´s event, presided over by the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo along with several associations of friendship with Cuba.

The fair will also visit the cities of Puerto Plata, Santiago de los Caballeros, San Francisco de Macorís, Bonao, La Romana, Bani and Barahona. The program of the fair also includes other events such as sports and recreational activities.

Cuba has railroads with working trains, but they are old trains that are used for both passengers and freight. There's a huge difference between having an old India-style railroad and having a safe, modern and efficient underground metro in a big city!

See if people were not blind supporters of "Lie-onel" their posted comments might read:

"The PLD and "Lie-onel" Fernandez are allowing Cuban Communist to bring Marxist propaganda to contaminate the minds of Dominicans!

I wonder what Cardinal "Nicky" thinks about these atheist being allowed into the country by his boy.

Imagine if anyone in the opposition had given these visas to the Cubans, what hypocrites!

The 3rd Cuban Traveling Book Fair is a scaled down version of the Havana's International Book Fair .

The Havana Fair is a Cuban festival that focuses on the promotion of books and is opened to writers and books from all over the world. Books are often published in extremely large and cheap editions and offered to the Cuban readers [almost 10% of the 11 million Cuban population has college degrees.]

The festival first took place in 1992, and now takes place annually between the months of February and March. It begins in Havana's La Cabaña fortress before extending to other cities across the nation, ending in the eastern city of Santiago de Cuba. Over 100 publishing houses present catalogues of books including Casa de las Américas.

The turnout for the festivals exceed over a million people, often giving foreign writers more readers in Cuba than in their home countries.

The festival offers writers at least a chance to be read ... not millions of dollars in royalties.

oooo

Evidently, you believe Haiti is a communist country which I should visit.

Evidently, you believe the right of speech should not be used except to repeat the lies and defamations that are headlined in the bourgeois media.

Evidently, you don't know where you can go unless I tell you.

Evidently, you had the misfortune to return from Iraq or you've fled two-facedly from combat since clearly you believe the US imperialists have a right to kill over 1.2 million Iraqis and steal 2 M barrels of oil daily from the Iraqi people.

So, DROP DEAD.

oooo

Publishing houses that refuse to ape the line of the lying capitalist press or the "free" [meaning millionaire-dominated] bourgeois media are naturally "agitprop."

Havana has considerable publishing capabilities, an immense readership, and a distaste for the porno genre of literature [that is so fashionable in the Imperialist USA and Canada]. These three resources attract some of the finest writers in the world to the book fairs, leaving the porno degenerates to service the markets for literature in the imperialist countries.

oooo

Their ration card ... which every Cuban adult has ... socialistically guanrantees them rice to put into the cooker.

In US imperialist-dominated Latin American and Caribbean countries that have taken the capitalist path of development , a few people today are complaining ... loudly ... that there is no rice to put in their cooker if they have a cooker or that rice is too high to buy.

Is it better to have rice and a cooker in socialist Cuba or to have neither rice nor a cooker in failed capitalist part of Latin America and Caribbean?
