Admits payments to Panama’s president Torrijos

VILLA ALTAGRACIA, Dominican Republic.- Those who won’t vote for opposition candidate Miguel Vargas due to former president Hipólito Mejía’s integration to the campaign, "which they do not vote, that goes away to hell," said the ex chief executive in this township yesterday.

Mejía’s response came during a campaign motorcade he headed under heavy showers, when asked if his participation in the campaign could mean less votes for the PRD party’s candidate. "They’re the same chumps as always," he said of those who voice that view.

With this massive rally, the head of the once popular Presidential Project Hipólito (PPH) abandons his low key support for his former Public Works minister and joins the campaign in San Cristóbal province (south), including this locality.  He said he expects the ruling PLD party "liars, eat-alones and bums" will be ousted from office on May 16.

He mocked president Leonel Fernandez, asking "who raised your eggs? Who raised the chicken?," in reference to the chief executives famous lines in the 2004 campaign.

The famous Colonel Pepe

Just as during the time he was President, Mejía was accompanied by a security detail headed by the retiree colonel Pedro Julio "Pepe" Goico. He called Fernandez "diabolic and a liar",

"Papá has arrived, papá has arrived," chanted PRD party members when Mejía reached the town center, where the former chief executive said Fernandez’s administration “hasn’t even built one latrine here."

He also admitted that his Government paid a consultant’s fee to the current Panamanian president Martín Torrijos, for the process of the concession of highways.

Hipocrita Mejia should shut his mouth. We should get King Juan Carlos to say to him "Por que no te callas?"..LOL

After the fiasco of 2000 to 2004 this guy has the audacity to criticize Leonel and the PLD?! I'm sorry dude, but you ruined the once great PRD party and that's why I now support Leonel. Even though it's an increasingly conservative party and I'm a liberal at least LF gets the job done!...If the PRD changes its ways and practices what it preaches (social democracy) I might switch, but I don't see that happening at least until 2016...so for now I'm with LF!

Possibly, no, probably, no, definiitely the worst, most corrupt leader this country has ever had has the audacity to criticize the person who was left to clean up after the mess he made. This guy should be in church every day thanking God that no one in this country ever gets prosecuted for their dishonesty. And for any newspaper to report anything the Burro de Gurrrabo says, is a huge disseervice to the pueblo.

Mejía, a prime example of Dominican "white" not just another poorly caucasianated mulatto, loves his vulgarities and profanities when he airs them loudly during interviews and speeches on live national television.

Mejia did his best not to disappoint his followers who always expect something dramatic and quaint from his interviews and speeches. He said the PRD abstentionists were "chumps" who can "go to Hell.". He called the PLD "liars, eat-alones and bums." What does he mean by "eat-alones?" They sound horrid. Speaking in VILLA ALTAGRACIA, a poultry center, he blames Leonel for the current sick chickens and bad eggs. Mejia denounced Leonel as "diabolic and a liar." Yes, Leonel is cunning and crafty, too. Mejia condemned Leonel for a big failure, he “hasn't even built one latrine here." But Leonel has laid "bad eggs."

This performance was indeed vintage Mejia, but not at his best ... or, more correctly, at his worst.

CON"T

Apparently, Mejia, the esteemed Dominican "white," uncharacteristically restrained himself this time from calling black Dominicans "monkeys" on live national TV to amuse Aryan imperialists, the other Dominican "whites," and of course, highly Caucasianated mulattoes. [I know that Mejia's so-called "monkeys" aren't "black Dominicans," but rather they are only "dark-skinned Indians." Even now, Mejia's vulgarities and profanities are conspicuous and promiscuous when he is not live on national TV.]

This is my view,

During Hipolito Administartion, there was money circulating, everything was expensive, corruption everywher and people we're eating.

During "Come solo Administartion "The Bangger", there is no money circulating, everything is expensive, corruption everywhere and people are not eating.

Altogether, they made Balaguer look better also Trujillo.

You be the Judge of your "Democracy".

When we consider Mejia's demonstrated judgment in matters of good taste, the term "eat-alones" may most likely refer to either individuals who can't afford to pick up the tab for the whole table or individuals who consumed objects that are not respectable .... or even mentionable ... hence the need for privacy when they dine.

A long-shot third possibility is "both" of two alternatives presented above. But I suspect there aren't many individuals who qualify for both categories.

In theory, there is also a "neither" which we can dismiss as esoteric. An example of "neither" is the remotest possibility that there aren't enough latrines to go around.

But, after all, why should PLDs be disreputable "eat-alones" when they're handing out "little checks?"

This man makes my stomach hurt. Everytime he opens his mocuh he looses IQ points. Like my Grandmother would say "Que BuRRRRo!!! I still can't believe that he was president of our nation. But then again I can't believe GW. Bush is still president of the USA. The ass backwards donkeys, that became presidents, that's incredible. I just hope that Dominicans are not as ignorant as to elect the PRD. Everytime this group of hoodlum thugs get the presidency, is a wrap for the whole country. I hope the PLD stays in power for the next 50 years or so. I don't care if they are called "come solos" cause at least they have the decency to hold themselves accountable for any accusations that are thrown their way. The PRD = Pretty Ridiculous Dummies all they do is point fingers and look for scapegoats.

How can Leonel and the PLD party be called the come solo when they were handing out checks to a lot of people around the country. tell you what by stoping them from doing that, it only gives them more votes because the people that were getting those checks are not pist off of the prd, prsc and pri because they took away one or the only source of income that they had( BIG MISTAKE MISCALCULATED. why want to change now that the country is going to a full recovery from the previous goverment. Please lets not make the same mistake that we made in 2000. leave leonel were he is so our children and our grandkids can have a better education and be somebody one day.

2. Lets bring back the days when merchants had to quote their prices in dollars.
Because the peso could lose 5 to 10% of it's value in a day.

The Peso went from 16 to 1 USD to 60 to 1.

I beleive only the ones that were here during that HELL can relate to what I am saying.

And I do agree with with the earlier post comparing Hipolito to GWB look what he has done to the US dollar even Canadian money is worth more or as a much anyways.

..well I hope so but only if they continue doing a good job because as soon as there's negative GDP growth I wouldn't be supporting them. Being loyal to a party no matter what is irrational. If someone is doing a good job I think we should applaud them but if they are not we shouldn't. That's my philosophy. In 2000 I supported Hipolito, but not in 2004 after all the lios he did!...Leonel did a good job from 2004 to 2008 and that's why I support him. If he fixes the light problem, education, healthcare, and the economy continue to improve by 2012 I will continue to support the PLD unless they mess up...if they do mess up then I would support the PRD!

I am so sick and tired of bozo's taking free shots at the US every chance they get. What that has to do with these discussions is absolutely NOTHING.

Back to the conversation. When the peso was 52 to 1 dollar a six pack of presidente was 150 Pesos in the supermarket. Now that it is down to 34 it is 282 pesos. Prices didn't go down and as a matter of fact went up.

PESO did go from 16 to 52 to one. Now it is down to 34

Evidently "YOU" weren't here because it never went to 60 and you have everything else wrong also..

I must say that hipolito mejia has been the worst president that the dominican republic has had. I wish that these type of people be in jail. The dominican republic has so much room for improvement. I must say that the hipolito mejia fooled dominicans by emphasizing that he was from the campo and that he was going to represent them because he too knew how hard it it to be from the campo. dominicans need to open their eyes. I know we are very judgemental, and detailed so how did we let this fool ruin us? I must say everyone has their defaults but leonel Fernandez was never rich to begin with and seeing all the great things that he has done to pu the Dominican Republic to the status that it is now is astonishing. Some people say that Leonel hasnt done anything but take a look at asome of the things he has done:

* enhanced education/scholarships
* raised wages for most employees
* started the subway- great way to travel

I am thrill and happy to see this egocentric maniac opening his mouth for his PRD, this is another reassurance of the PRD demise in the next may elections, his mind of "camionero" was needed, once he talks, that is it, poison again from his mouth. Mejia, there have not been another president as bad as you were, the cheapness of the government in your 4 years, were not seen since the times of the indians, probably Caonabo was wiser and more intelligent than you are,
never before a President talked like you did, and better yet, still do. Thanks from my heart, you have given us the best moment now that we see you patronizing for the PRD again, you have done it again, talking bull, and remind us of that great phrase of 4 years ago. DennisC, i will agree with you on one thing: mejia was beyond a joke. but can you cite me some data to buttress your argument that Leonel has improved education? the last UNESCO surveys showed us having woeful performance in that area. and the jury is still out on the metro. there are many people, myself included, who think it was an atrocious idea, given the other needs of the country.after all, the only people who will benefit are a bunch of city folks: it has no effect on someone from nagua. when a government this size spends that quantity of money on a project, the benefits should stretch across a wider bandwidth of beneficiaries.

In terms of praise, this guy, this writer, is and has been for some time off the charts.

His work merits the praise.

But the praise doesn't all emanate from the literati.

The guy increasingly gets praise from the illiterati who in final analysis are more important than the literati.

Marcel Duchamp's aesthetics, his philosophy of art, says there are two poles of the "Creative Act" [this idea is embodied in a 3-page paper (1957)] -- the artist and the spectator. Yes, the spectator is as much involved in the creative act as the artist. In literature, the spectator is the illiterati.

http://members.aol.com/mindwebart3/marcel.htm

This guy is not only from the illiterati in the Dominican Republic, he's still of the illiterati. He still belongs to them. He speaks to, for, and with them.

Of course, literati are always first to "discover" because litterati read everything that's written. And what is happening now is a kind of "discovery."
