Johnny Dauhajre in the interview for Channel 27.
Santo Domingo.- The ouster of the former rebel group member and leftist journalist Raul Perez Peña (Bacho) was not politically-motivated and was in fact related to a lease dispute, said Friday Johnny Dauhajre, the Cinevision TV channel operator.
He said Perez’s nightly program, “Nocturnal,” was in arrears in its payments, leading the company to cancel the contract.
He said faced with Perez’s threat that “I’ll go tonight with my friends and enter the station…” and what he described as incorrect actions, the National Police was called to provide protection.

Hey Josean:
Once again you were wrong. Must be tough facing the truth. Apology accepted.

It wouldn't be the first time someone who is the target of political attack is smeared with mud. Character assassination is a very old tactic, and one that should be obvious to anyone with even a basic understanding of history.

OK, OK, I apologize for spouting off about the "Freedom of Speech" thing.
Now, are you satisfied??
This misunderstanding merely points up thelack of COMPLETE reporting by the NEWS MEDIA here in the DR.
Had they COMPLETED their investigation, intervewed the appropriate personnel, then reported the news accurately, all this hullabaloo would have dropped by the wayside andbeen reported CORRECTLY.
Don't you all agree???
Incorrect andinadequate reporting by the DR news media has led to false rumors and insufficient facts being presented too many times in thepast.
I just wish the Reporters(??) would put forth the effort needed for complete accuracy occasionaly instead of turning the pages of their papers into "rumor machines" just to sell newspapers. Such "reporting" is a disgrace and the editors should put a stop to it by firing the ones responsible.

wonderfully said, Texas Bill. as a partial -scotsman, i am proud of you.(just kidding; don't feel offended). however, the news media here is woefully deficient in releasing complete and accurate stories. it seems as though they do their journalistic research in the barber shop!!

we are all greatly relieved that this was not an issue of free speech....
From: United States
i wholeheartedly second that. i hope that tomorrow we do not see yet another conflicting news release, because this one was a rumour. ladies and gentlemen: you are getting paid to research and write stories. earn your keep, for God's sake!!
From: United States
well, don't you agree that the messenger could use a liberal dose of buckshot in the backside?
From: United States
even if you don't agree, Texas Bill can bring out some double -ought buckshot!!

What makes Mr. Dauajre's version of the events more credible than Mr. Perez's?
The jury is still out on this one.
Where is the documentation of court action initiated by Mr. Dauajre to abrogate the contract for non-payment?
Where is the court order establishing Mr. Perez's non compliance with the contract and the order to prevent access to the station?
Why wait until the political campaign is in full swing to take this action if he has been in arrears?
The only verifiable fact is that the police prevented a journalist from doing his job.
The rest is hearsay.
When you have a president that has declared himself Vinchista and the heir to Balaguerismo I have trouble giving him the benefit of the doubt!
Let me see the transperancy of the do process of the action and then I will retract my comments.

if he has something so important to say he can pay cash and print it in the paper.....he is a DEADBEAT
From: United States
Goulet, i am forming an apology line for you in case Josean proves to be right. by calling the guy a deadbeat, you are arriving at a judgement before the issue is ventilated. you should know that in every issue there are 3 sides: each person's version, and the truth!
