SAN ISIDRO AIRBASE. - President Leonel Fernandez last night returned to the country with his wife Margarita Cedeño and some supporters who accompanied him in a campaign tour of several United States cities.

The chief executive arrived in the military terminal at 8:05 p.m. from New York, on a private jet of U.S.-registry,

Fernandez, presidential candidate of the ruling PLD party for the May 16 elections, was received at the airbase by Armed Forces minister Ramon Aquino Garcia and other senior military officers.

Before leaving New York, the Head of State said the Santo Domingo Metro will become this century’s most transcendental work and start a new cycle of mass transit in the country.

Fernandez, touting the Metro to a group of New York taxi drivers, said once in operation, which he said is expected in September or October, Dominicans will begin a new era of fuel saving, which in his view would benefit their pocketbook.

I wonder why his Excellency did not talk to the taxi drivers about his “great achievements” in education so future generations do not have to immigrate to the US and work the long unsafe hours as taxi operators.

Maybe it is because he has neglected this area of social necessity like so many others:

ALERT BREAKING NEWS

Dominican Millionaires beware!

Corripo, Grullon, Bisono, Porcella, Crau, Perello, Bonetti, Leon Jimenez, Bermudez, Brugal, Vicini, Hazim, de la Renta, Johnny Ventura; ladies and gentlemen keep your check books handy, the taxman cometh!

Here is another "Little New York "idea Lie-onel Fernandez may bring to you to fund his "great" METRO, the greatest accomplishment of the 21st century in DR.

Remember "Lie" and the PLD never met a tax they did not like or aren't willing to implement.

Be afraid be very afraid!

I can hear the big money leaving DR now!

PS

I thought there was group of METRO supporters posting here on DT that said the NY subway was turning a profit.

If Mayor Bloomberg the billionaire businessman can not make the subway profitable in NY what hope do we have with Lie-onel.

Now Josean, let us give credit where it is due when it comes to exploring technology and the Dominican Government does cater to its citizen more and better than the Haitian Government do for its citizens; that I always agree. This thread is honestly not about Haiti. So let us keep it as such. Unless you favor a Dr political Candidate and know of his agenda and can give great debatable references, i suggest you leave it alone Josean before there is a massive lash out.
