SANTO DOMINGO.- The wireless transmission of electoral results from the municipal polling places and electoral boards passed its final test yesterday, when in the presence of international delegates, political parties and of civil society, the Central Electoral Board (JCE) showed the reliability and efficiency of the system and equipment that will be used in next Friday’s presidential elections.

But while the electoral judges seemed happy with how the 11,061 voting  affidavits were transmitted nationwide in a record time of one hour without difficulty, equal to more than 100 per minute, the delegates of the political parties dimissed the maneuvers by labeling it as "a show" and denounced that the electoral court ignored its demands that those tests had to be conducted with sufficient time.

JCE Computer Center director Miguel Angel Garcia said the system couldn’t link to 33 municipal boards, although 14 of those did get connected via satellite.

The system was tested in 742 voting centers in 103 municipalities and 32 provinces, whose results, scanned after the close of voting and its affidavits filled, are directly transmited to the JCE and then physically taken to the corresponding electoral board.
