Alex Jimenez.
Zoom Picture

Santo Domingo.- May 12, 2007, exactly one year ago today, Dominican soldier Alex Jiménez was kidnapped and disappeared in Iraq and nobody knows where, nor how he is.

His mother Maria Durán said on Mothers Day in the United States yesterday, she hasn’t lost hope that her son is still alive, while the United States Defense Department assures her the search continues for the young soldier native of Santiago (north).

The Dominican-born soldier who arrived as a youngster in a barrio of Lawrence, Rhode Island, had always said he wanted to join the United States Army and did so in Fort Drum, from where he was sent to the war in Iraq.

Jiménez, a specialist in mountain warfare, was kidnapped after a fierce battle with an Al Qaeda terrorist militia cell "Islamic State of Iraq, " hwich later adjudged the capture of the Dominican and other soldiers who fought with him. Months later, one of their bodies was found in waters of the Euphrates River and afterwards the terrorists aired a video via Internet in which they affirmed having executed Jiménez and the rest of them.

I am sorry about this guy and his family and the rest of the American soldiers that have lost their life for this gratuitous war, but anyone who is thinking on joining the army should first watch "Saving Private Ryan", is it a movie by Steven Spielberg about a squad of U.S. soldiers led by Capt. Miller (Tom Hanks) who try to find a missing soldier in France. And then think about their own life and family and think it over. After I graduated from high school I was about to join the Marines but thank God I ended up not joining, the war in Irak is a free ticket to death.

Warning!!! in case you plan to watch it, the graphics in this movie are extremely strong and breath taking (some of the images shows people clearly being blown apart by granades, being ripped apart by 50 calibers machine guns.... etc.)

There's a small chance that this brave young man might still be alive. For his and his families sake I hope that's the case and I hope he gets to return home soon.

My heart goes out to the family of this brave man and the countless others fighting. Now I just hope that Bush gets prosecuted for the 5,000 troops that have died in this unnecessary war.

Belial, I think you should not judge Jimenez ("Que Dios lo tenga en la gloria")or any of these soldiers for Bush evil act, most of these soldiers if not all were also victims of Bush and his gang lies; they are just following order to protect us all, 9/11 was the reason given to them to go to war.
So with no offense, I think you should be more cautious of what you going to say, and respect their memories.

For the survey, finding 1.2 million Iraqi casualties as a result of the US aggression and occupation, see:
http://www.opinion.co.uk/Newsroom_details.aspx?NewsId=78

For an analysis of the survey, see:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ORB_survey_of_casualties_of_the_Iraq_War

As of the today, the death toll for Iraqis has almost certainly reached 2,000,000 human beings.

When evil balloons to such a grand and unprecedented scale, the murderous culprits can't apologize for the horror with a lame excuse of moral weakness, like "Mr. Bush, the big boss man, told me to kill 'em. I had no choice. I got to kill whomever the big boss man tells me to kill. AND ... and, I got paid to kill 'em."

The US people never fell for Bush or his lies about WMDs and Iraq in 9/11. Two-thirds of the US people openly repudiated Bush and his lies. The remaining one third, to which Jimenez belonged, knowingly welcomed Bush's lies and the mass killing or, just didn't give a damn, one way or the other.

The USA is supposed to be the US people under the governance of the US Constitution.

Without either one or both ... that is, the US people or the Constitution ... the USA doesn't exists.

Jimenez fought and died for neither.

Jimenez fought and died for Bush, the election-thief, who says "The US Constitution is nothing but a Goddamn piece of paper" and who treats the Constitution as such.
http://www.capitolhillblue.com/artman/publish/article_7779.shtml

As for the US people living under the "Goddamn piece of paper," they have repeatedly demonstrated their opposition to the US aggression and their contempt for Bush.

If the USA is the US people under the Constitution, then Jimenez didn't fight for the United States, rather he fought against it and helped to disgrace it.

Servility is not and has never been a virtue or a honor.

Belial, i sincerely feel that lcabrera is on the money as to the circumstances that brought this young man to war. A large percentage of the American army is composed of inner-city "minority" youth who saw the army as a way out of what is percieved to be ghettoes. I know many such young men that joined precisely for that reason. Your commentary on Jimenez was rather harsh for someone that does not actually know him. With that said a family in our community is obviously in alot of pain at this moment. You're obviously entitled to your opinion and to air it as well but, damn, don't be a jerk about it.

Cibaeno I do not think of El Alto as a ghetto.....do you?......if it was good enough for the Boricuas and the Cubans..why is it not good enough for you ? ...I see it as a cultural thriving treasure not a ghetto in the modern sense ie poverty stricken and crime ridden with few exits.....America is discovering its Latino peoples and it likes what it sees...Cibaeno do not go down the old I am the victim road it leads to no where and worse yet Separatism .....one only needs to see what was nominated for 13 Tony awards last nite on Broadway and take note of who and what story won a Pulitzer Prize last month to sse what is happening in The Greatest Country in the World.....open your eyes and leave the grassy knoll cibaeno...You are fortunate to be where you are

as i sit here in my air force reserve job on a base on the east coast (active duty for two weeks) at four am,it is just amazing how uneducated people like belial want to stay uneducated.some of the press covering the global against terrorism is the same liberal press that makes biased ignorant remarks about people of various cultures, about some of our african american and latin american leaders in some our communities but now they are beleivable because some of the things they say about our commander in chief.for instance mr belial 200,000 iraqis have not died in five years, that is way off.it took saddam hussien 25 years to torture, maim, cut off ears, pull teeth, eye balls etc.etc all while they were sober and by the way belial killed 400,000 who disputed his regime and some of those were tortured to death.i just recently returned from afghanistan and they the afghanis see the situation or our sacrifices totaly different than people over here and they are upset about that.

what makes the afghans and iraqis upset is the fact that they say look at america and say free country education free ,if you want to further it you go to the school of your choice,do as you please go where you please,if you have problems with your leaders, you write to them and you can keep on writing until they realize you are serious wow what an amazing thing.and they ask me many times why the americans hate your leaders so much why do they hate you guys in the military why they do not value your sacrifice with honor and respect and education by asking you how we the afghans or iraqis are doing or how we feel about you bieng here.for bieng two of the most war ravaged oppressed countries on this earth, the people have a whole lot more education than a good portion of you guys here in america.like i said i live in new york city name the time and the place so i can educate a whole lot of you like belial in person.
