SANTO DOMINGO.-  With a massive rally that president Leonel Fernandez defined as the largest manifestation in the country’s political history, the ruling PLD Party  yesterday closed its electoral campaign in the Francisco del Rosario Sanchez bridge’s western approach.

Six major polls published in the last 6 days give Fernandez a first-ballot win with an average of 55 percent.

Fernandez and five other speakers centered frontal attacks against the former government headed by the opposition PRD party and its candidate Miguel Vargas.

I was talking to a gal last night who is voting for the other party because she was promised a case of beer. Her mother loses her job if Leonel doesn't get re-elected and she is still voting the case of beer.

****DOMINICANS will never cease to amaze me and the way these games are played just like all the games in this poor excuse of a country you never EVER know how it is gonna turn out until the fat lady sings.

What a horrible way to live ones life, eh?

Escott disparaging remarks about the owners of this country only leads to their disrespect for foreigners who now live here...Those of us more economically fortunate should always be careful of our behaviour....Is it not getting warm enough for you to go back to Canada yet ?PS by owners I dont mean the transportation thugs I mean the citizenry
