Aura Celeste Fernandez, her husband Guillermo Moreno.
SANTO DOMINGO. - The presidential candidate of the coalition of parties Miuca yesterday said the scanners to be used to transmit poll results can be manipulated from the outside to create an "artificial cork," a denouncement which prompted some media to question the fact his wife is a sitting Central Electoral Board (JCE) judge.
Guillermo Moreno, whose wife is JCE judge Aura C. Fernandez, said the situation would make it difficult for certain acts to be sent on time. "All this is very delicate for a very simple reason, and it’s that we’re before a reelection candidate who’s saying he’s going to win in the first bulletin."
This morning, TV and radio producer Cesar Medina questioned the denouncement, and why Moreno and Fernandez haven’t taken any steps to resolve the apparent conflict of interest.
Moreno said the scanners could be intervened to issue a first bulletin with the results of certain places, to try and mark a tendency and confuse the population.
He said a consultation is needed and measures should be taken to avoid that type of situation, "because the oven is too hot for cookies."
Moreno said though he favors expeditious electoral results; it could be used as a pretext to manipulate or for a sector to try to fish in troubled waters.

The first and only declaration on whom won the presidential election should be made by and only by the JCE and not the political parties via "communiques"

Moreno is just saying precautions should be taken. I do agree that the semblance of conflict of interest is VERY serious, and measures to prevent such situations as the one between Moreno and his WIfe should be taken; but without trying to justify the situation, the PLD, PRD, and PRSC claiming a conflict of interest btw the JCE and the MIUCA is the pot calling the kettle black. Conflict of interest is the traditional parties M.O. The traditional parties are attacking the MIUCA, I feel, b/c their message of transparency, accountability, representation, and respect for national soverignty has traction among the public. When people hear of MIUCA's platform, they can't help but to say "wow, I wish these guys would win." Guess what, is we Vote 16 el 16, the MIUCA may not win, but we will send a message to the traditional party that their clientelistic M.O., their empty promises, and their raping of our resources (both human, industrial, and natural) is no longer tolerated by the public!

So conflicts of interest huh?,
what is this woman, wife of that candidate doing working at the Central Electoral Board?
this is very conflictive , it should not be.
And that guy Josean say "well said", what a dumb thing to say, when even Cesar Medina questioned it, as a conflict of interests.
Besides, who ever listen to this guy Moreno speaking, believe he is the favorite to win the next
elections, when at least 3 or 4 more candidates will receive more votes than him, and time will assure these words.

Saturating voters?
Adriano Miguel Tejada of Diario Libre comments on the fine line between attracting voters and saturating the market. "I have the impression that at this moment the excess of advertising of the purple-colored party is doing more damage than good, " writes Tejada. He explains that when the campaign started out, the idea was to overwhelm voters so that they felt a sensation of of invincibility of the candidate. But he says this could be counterproductive. People may say they are not going to vote, because "what's the point, we already won," or they may not try to convince others to vote for the party, he comments. He also points out that when reaching out to those that are undecided, too much advertising can have the opposite effect and motivate a vote for the opposition, as a way for irritated people to exercise their rejection of the barrage of advertising.

Tejada says that the President-candidate would do better if he works to assure the people there will not be problems in forthcoming months, instead of insisting on propaganda that is already tiresome.
Participacion Ciudadana civic group said that the PLD invested RD$80 million in propaganda in April alone. The PRD invested RD$36.5 million, the PRSC RD$20.5 million.

Frankthetank, what moreno's plan for gov't? I haven't heard anything about it?
From: United Kingdom
Nyc4, I’m just tired of the Bs, my family has deep ties with both the PRD and the PLD. Mr. Moreno, is the only one actually saying anything of any substance. Mr. Acosta is more well versed on the details of MUICA positions and overall platform.
Mr. Acosta, I would really enjoy that, but I’m really pressed for time on my visit(and my family leaves Santo Domingo for the family finca in Monte Plata), if I can free up some time(my god mother wants me to visit her on the other side of the island),if I can make time I will surely email you .
