SANTO DOMINGO.- Technical faults in its only aircraft will keep the company Air Dominicana from starting operations with an inaugural flight today as announced, said its representatives Thursday.

Air Dominicana’s director Ignacio Sanguino and board member Juan Muñoz, representing the group Futura, which provides technical support for the airline, attributed the postponement to that the airplane, a new Boeing 737-300, with a capacity for 148 passengers, presented technical inconveniences.

The problem was detected in Spanish island Sal, where it made the stop after taking off at Palma de Mallorca, en route to Fortaleza, Brazil from where it would fly to Santo Domingo’s Las Americas Airport.

For today, the presentation  the new airline  Dominican capital in an act in the airport and an inaugural flight was predicted in which he would be the President the Republic and important personalities.

Muñoz said the jet would fly to Miami, where it would undergo “rigorous technical evaluations.” He added that in 10 to 14 days the airplane will come to the country to being its flights charters.

People it's a political move. Leonel wants to inaugrated the first flight near election time. It will be ready around thr 13 or 14 for its first flight. LF is very smart. This will make Dominicans excited about having a national airline. LF really knows how to play the card man. Very smart.

I'm not superstitious, but my gut feeling tells me that Leonel shouldn't get on that plane. :(

This model of the Boeing 737 has had a bit of adverse publicity of late. I wouldn't be surprised if a thorough ivestigation into the Maintenance Records revealed that many of the Advisory Directives issued on this model by the FAA have not been complied with by the previous owner.
Since the "technical irregularities" were reported at a foreign station, I imagine that the "ferry crew" had some serious write-ups about the safety of the aircraft in International Commercial Operation.
It now goes to a Maintenance Depot to ascertain just which AD's need to be effected before being released for International Commercial Flight.
Whoever was in charge of the purchase (the "Acceptance Agent" for the Airline) should be investigated (his bank account, mainly) to see if he had his "palms greased" in the purchase.

goulet;

FYI, I was christened "Billy Harold", so the "William" isn't appropriate. Just my Scots-Irish grandmother's idea, I suppose.

Is bad for this new air line to start this way, but at the same time this also tells me that the people in charge of this line are also prepare to know when something goes wrong with the plane and fixe the problem before a catastrophe happens.
